Kingcopa 1st Gear May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 This is nothing when u hear my company. We got a new engineer from India and he is currently on probation. He can happily go back India for almost a mth (did not apply) and fully aid during his absent lor. His boss (another India FT) approve him going home. ↡ Advertisement

Rickster 5th Gear May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 Auntie, what you are asking is very vague leh, there are many levels of FTs. If you are talking about Indian Programmers vs Regional Sales Manager, both are white collar. But you can be sure the Indian programmers are paid sxxt vs locals and yea... u get the idea? Rickster 5th Gear May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 I dunno about the CPF contribution rate for FT But for PR, its much lower the singaporean thus more savings for company http://mycpf.cpf.gov.sg/Members/Gen-Info/C...es/ContriRa.htm CPF contribution rate for FT = $0.
Rickster 5th Gear May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 It is also not cheap hiring singaporeans........ try as much, but there are not enough singaporeans with the right type of training to fill the jobs that is available with us. But for foreigners working in my office, there is no extra... for our off shore locations, everything is provided for.... Sometimes its also the nature of the job. My company are forced to hire FTs from india and china mainly because of the nature of jobs. No singaporeans wants to work 10 hours/day with with only a pay of $800/mth, no leave, no bonuses, no MC, no medical benefits.
Rickster 5th Gear May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 partially agree... but to put everything into perspective... basic economics tells you that if you own a company.. you want to get more for less... no company in the right mind will be hiring FT if they were truly getting less than they could out of a singaporean.. ppl dont hire FT just cos they want to have FT or cos having FT is cool or cos they like that particular country.. it's dollars and cents! if you ask the right people.. you'll see why singaporeans are marginalized.. it's unfortunate that the environment we grew up in.. i.e. to become do-ers and not thinkers and innovators have resulted in us being left behind in all this... and not to forget.. singaporeans are becoming a group of complainers and also love to give very useful comments and suggestions for everything even if it doesnt concern them.. without looking at the big picture... and i should know this.. cos im one of them!!! I can't agree with you more bro. Many pple fail to see that the problem is actually their own doing...
Qpik Supercharged May 5, 2008 Author Share May 5, 2008 Ah Di, u nvr wash yr face this morning is it?? I'm refering to FT n local of same qualifications n experience for the same position. Slowmo Clutched May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 same salary, same benefits.... no discrimination.... thats in the ideal world. first statement not necessary related to 2nd statement. from point of view of employer, getting more value for money: For FT males: - no ICT (2-4 weeks per year) - no IPPT (2 days per year) - no IPPT/RT (1-2 mths per year) - younger and higher qualifications for that age because they don't have NS - have overseas exposure especially they have worked in their home country for 2-3 yrs, and will have more value than locals. For FT females: - usually not going to be pregnant (1-3 mths per year) - have overseas exposure especially they have worked in their home country for 2-3 yrs, and will have more value than locals. - normally have 'no life' especially family not in Singapore, so they can potentially put in more work hours than locals. Rickster 5th Gear May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 I know i know ok i go wash now mom.... I used to be working in a local IT firm. The FTs they hire for IT engineers & system administrators from philipines are paid 3/4 of what an equivalent local is paid. On top of that, they have way better qualifications & more hard working, not so much kopi breaks like us locals Perhaps, after some time, they will be like the rest
Qpik Supercharged May 5, 2008 Author Share May 5, 2008 ah boy, unless u r in a confidential depts, otherwise it is hard to tell whether they hv other benefits or not. ok, u may get ready for yr lunch time n come back earlier to protect yr rice bowl
Rickster 5th Gear May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 U think companies run by locals are prepared to give FTs many extras if they can hire a singaporean that is equally qualified? Perhaps your company might be a unique case. However, I do know that there are positions for FTs that locals cannot fill and thus, the employer will not be hesitant to pay them more.
