WHEN Audrey (not her real name) went to get her car on Thursday morning from the car park at her home, she found an empty lot.

For over half an hour, she combed all the floors of the five-storey car park in Block 125A Kim Tian Road in frantic search of her four-month-old Suzuki Swift but could not find it.

She covered the entire car park three times before giving up. Her brother drove her around the neighbourhood, but still, her grey car was nowhere to be seen.

The IT consultant finally made a police report that her car had been stolen.

Audrey, 35, said: 'It is incredulous... this is Singapore, I don't think it is that easy to steal a whole car like that.'

Audrey who bought the car last December for about $57,000, said she last saw her car on Monday afternoon when she parked it on the second-storey after returning home from work.

She was sure she had locked the car, which also has an alarm, and also wound up all the windows.

Audrey did not use her car for the next three days as she does not drive to work everyday.

It was only on Thursday when she was going to fill petrol at a nearby pump station that she found her car missing.

Police said they are investigating the theft of the car - an offence which carries the maximum penalty of seven years' imprisonment and a fine.

this sort of thing happens once in a while. that is why the police finds it extremely hard to crack such cases.

Hope that the swift owner can be reunioned with her ride...soon.

remind me of my friend who "lost" his car back in 2005 or 2006. He went to a pub located either in the Boat Quay or Clark Quay area. The car was parked at one of those URA lot.....Finished the pub session around midnight and went to collect his car and it wasnt there !!! Searched for hours and there was no sight...reported to the police and insurance company...but the latter said would declare lost after 3 mths...

After close to 3 mths...one day he recieved a call from the police saying the car was found..It was parked at a condo nearby.....the condo security reported to the police cos they couldnt track down the owner of the car to any occupants of the condo...Nothing was missing...just tat the battery was flat.

what was the car? a hyundai getz..

Actually I have the same situation as her and lives near her too! [sweatdrop][sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

I don't use the car as regular as before due to change of job (previously Tuas, now Raffles Place).

Maybe i should re-evaluate my security arrangement soon.. steering wheel locks, etc. [:/]

never pay installments? [sly]

Normally the repo man will report the repo vehicle to the police station before towing it to the finance company storage base. So shouldn't be the case of never pay installment.
