Seems like not too many mods exist for the Evo X at the moment.

A friend just got one and simple mods like doing an open mod will set off the CEL... [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

I have an AUDM Mitsu Lancer Evo X MR which I am in the process of self importing to Singapore.

Best. Car. Ever.

Straight line performance could be better (car is heavier than IX) but the cornering is simply delightful.

Are you sure it's worth importing this from australia with all the cost and hassle involved? How much would you be looking to save?

It's about $40k SGD to import the car. I paid AUD$61k for the car (fully paid off). I'm just reluctant to part with it because I have gone through a lot with her (track days, skidpan, cruises, etc)

I'm a Singaporean who has been working in Australia but sent back to SG to open the Singapore branch.

GSR is pure manual. Practically SST drives like an automatic car, because there's no clutch for yer left foot to manage, just brake/accelerate. Gears have to be changed using paddle shifts, because the throttle response is not linear in Normal mode, coupled with throttle lag, makes it hard to time overtaking etc. and Sports mode is set for mountain racing, so you don't transit until fairly high RPMs, and there's no in-between setting. Unless you're just cruising on the high-way then it's ok.

There are definite limitations on the amount of torque and HP that the SST transmission can handle. As it's fairly new technology, aftermarket parts are only available for the clutch disc to date. Even for a stock car, depending on how you drive, in my personal opinion, the SST won't outlast your COE for new car, so set aside some money at some point in time to replace the clutch disc. I suspect this issue will become relevant once we hit 2012, when the first batches of SSTs are about 4 years old.

So if you are a manual car driver, and into modifications or racing, GSR should be the way to go. If you don't drive manual like me, then have to opt for SST. Reliable mods for SST are largely around 400 HP and 500 NM region. The other practical advantage for a SST is that your spouse or parents who may not be into cars can drive it in Normal automatic mode for weekend grocery shopping and if they don't rev it drives like a Lancer EX probably (dunno how the EX is like). The stock Bilsteins are also very comfortable.

In real world driving, you can launch the manual car, but not advisable for SST. A more realistic 0-100 timing is 5.6 seconds for the stock SSTs. In the stock car, i've had hard times fending off Type Rs, Euro Rs, WRXs on various roads. It's a good car in stock condition, but not a god car.

Hope the personal review has been useful!

Does the 40k include COE? But if you think its worth it, then by all means. [:)]
