Alcapone Neutral Newbie May 3, 2008 Share May 3, 2008 (edited) go sim lim square and look for those made in china player, like shinco. they are cheap and tend to play every kind of disc and will last longer. all popular branded dvd players are subject to strict compliance with certain restriction with copyright issues, and they cost more. even some popular brands have tied up affilation with china manufacturers to survive the competition. inlinesix Hypersonic May 3, 2008 Share May 3, 2008 My Pioneer DV-355 (region free) is nearing it's shelf life. I've been to Courts and Giant (cheapo mah) and so far it's all Region 3 players. Any recommendations? OT...my Akira and Hyundai DVD players CMI...died within a year+. Can't read the discs (for Akira) and can't write (Hyundai recorder) Ok. I m recommending something expensive here. Juz invest in Bose GS321 & u r problem free 4 years. I hav it 4 close 2 4 yrs. Can watch any DVD (including JB DVD). There r certain code 1 DVD that can only play on code 1 player. No prob. Juz program DVD 2 read code 1 only.
Brock 1st Gear May 25, 2008 Author Share May 25, 2008 Ok...update. I bought a Sony DVD player worth $89 from C***** today. The box and display set indicated Region 3. I asked the salesman and he told me "It's like that one! But once shipped over, they will automatically remove the region restriction so can play any region DVD." I am happy and satisfied. Thanks to all for your advice. ↡ Advertisement
