Zanter 3rd Gear May 2, 2008 Share May 2, 2008 (edited) I do agree with you. In my company, the lower end factory worker used to be Malaysians who work shift, but now they are replaced by China workers cos Malaysia eco is catching up and fewer Malaysian wanna come here to work due to high cost of living in Sg. The Sg workers do the more skilled work which are paid more. Most of our supervisors & above are Singaporeans. Singaporeans are a fussy lot, they tend to job hop. My company margins are not much, so if we have to use all Singaporeans and pay them what they expect to work long hrs & shift, I think we will have to close shop & move elsewhere. Then who will lose their jobs? Its the 75% of the employees who are Singaporeans which will include yours truly. Nkps 1st Gear May 2, 2008 Share May 2, 2008 I think the 'older' Singaporeans are disadvantaged as they are 'stuck' here with HDB and car loans. So lan lan have to endure the humiliation of FT taking over their jobs.I am sure the fresh/young graduates can see thru this problems, and many are leaving Singapore en mass. Not getting stuck with 30yr HDB loans, etc, living the way of the FT mentality aka "Anytime not happy, just pack up and leave here" The situation is changing, the fresh and young Singaporeans will turn the table around in another 4-8 years time. I am sure the next two erections will be turning points. When the old man is no more, miw will surely have more internal problems. In fact the slapping of the son case was the prove already. The old lee is still holding everyones balls tightly for now. Just wait....when miw can't receive anymore tips from the old man, internal rife and mistakes will be more common and who knows what will Singapore become. u too free? wanna go lim kopi? Patwong 3rd Gear May 2, 2008 Share May 2, 2008 Hi Chisiang, ===Quote== And for NTUC, the world is a cut throat place especially for FMCGs. If your price is better, got more variety, have plenty of stock in and out, the consumer will choose you to be the winner and the rest who cannot find their own niche will wither. ===Unquote== I agreed with you. Without NTUC, there will Carrefour and Gaints. Smaller provision stores operators still will close shop. At least NTUC gave out coupons to help the needy people. Chisiang 2nd Gear May 2, 2008 Share May 2, 2008 simi monopolized concept? This is how the world function, there's no monopoly involves. It is economy of scale. Whoever can grow the fastest and provide the cheapest will excel. If you sell expensive no matter how big you are people will not buy. This is the law of economics/marketing. You need to find your own niche. BTW you understand the term niche right? One doesn't need to be zhen hu lang to tell you this. One needs to be educated and logical to tell you this. The unfortunate ones will become pawn of others in the manipulating game. I am just one of the many who felt that our country should not be run by the uneducated and selfish mob, but I also don't concur on milking the people of their money. A lot of things our garmen do wrong, but some times they have valid reasons. But some people just like to criticise blindly be it right or wrong. Lv3338 Clutched May 2, 2008 Share May 2, 2008 Do you feel the topic referring here is economics monopoly or political monopoly ? I don't quite agree to your " lot of things our garmen do wrong, but some times they have valid reasons" When there's a big monopoly, where people leave to no choice then this is where the statement comes... Chisiang 2nd Gear May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 What you talking bro? MONOPOLY IS a economic term. There is no such thing as a political monopoly. IF you are referring to one party rules all then it is Single Party Ruling. But if you are referring to our type of garmen, then it is Dominat-Party System. It is important to get your fact right. If someone don't even understand the kind of political system there is in the world then I believe he/she do not know what he is talking about, let alone convince by him/her. I valued political stability above all else. Without it economy will be the first to suffer followed by you and me.

Seaweed 1st Gear May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 'Boon Heng replied, half joking, that maybe this was how the drinks stores attracted more customers; with more business, locals will be able to keep their jobs, and so the PRC young lady was indirectly helping the Singaporean woman,' [/color]Helping the woman to be out of job ??? I just cannot understand the logic..It maybe true that the kopishop owner may make more money...But is some part of this money going back to the woman???...Or is it just going in to Kopishop ownwer's pocket???....Or into the landlord's pocket?? Maybe helping the woman so that someone in the family whom hold the position of manager in the kopishop won't be out of job...This kind of policy is killing one out of two...so that at least one survive...Maybe I should ask my boss to replace me with cheaper labour whom can do the same as what I can to strengthen our country...ha ha ha

Josho 1st Gear May 5, 2008 Share May 5, 2008 While the FT had no commitment here, of course they can work longer and willing to take lower wages. And the rest, who living here had to pay this and that. It is no doubt ppl want to job hop and aim for higher wages. It's the living standard that cause all these problem. Now most of the coffeeshop speaking: Zhong Guo Ren... I can see that most Malaysian were force to move away from here... sigh.... Cheap, ppl take. No doubt. Wait till something happen then ↡ Advertisement
