actually , wat i would suggest is just to get a universal muffler or a custom one from man or fongkim and then keep ur stock muffler as spare.decat pipes would be good to allow for a more freeflowing exhaust system as well.as long as u dun get tow back for throughout inspection, chances that u get caught is very minimal .

Probably your car has got muffler made specially for it? Most exhaust shop I ask says welding is required otherwise if dun wan welding got to op the original exhaust.

ya i think thats the reason too.have been trying out these few sets of exhaust and didnt see my mech weld a single bit.hks legamax, hks silent hi,fujitsubo legalis r, aps turboback , apexi n1 , blitz nur spec r.

when you operate a muffler ,they open it ,remove stuff inside, replace some nicer stuff and weld it back. The welding part when they place it back is always facing upwards .

Thus chances of spotting it is quite rare even if they are at the bottom of your car.

ask them to weld it on the top side of the muffler. when they inspect...they usually view it form the bottom.

Yup, it will get louder as time passes... Usually last for about 3 years then u will need to op again...

The op line can still be seem from bottom if the inspector is sharp enough. However, it is usually not a problem if the sound is below the max level, i.e. not too loud. In any case, the muffler is to reduce the noise. Since it is not too loud, it is not a problem. ;)

Hrrr....does anybody knows where to get a new exhaust + installation done at the same place ?

My usual mechanic in yishun only does the installation, they dont sell it.

I just found out, my car's ex owner modify the exhaust. Can see the welding spots on 2 diff sections!!!! Now its slanted to one side and touching the wall, giving out rattling sounds over humps. [:/][:/][:/]

Mine also come with the welded muffler. Inspected this Jan and there is no problem. As long as the welding is good and there is no small gaps for the exhaust to leak out, then should be ok.
