Hi Bros,

Need advise... I fellow friend forumer wants to scrap the car soon and has 18k km 15" GR80 tyres. Mine is still 2.5K km stock 15" Toyo tyres. Do you think it's worth swapping with his tyres?

Thanks

Neutral Newbie

of course not....assuming 18k meaning he has went thru 1 round of rotate and balance and the 2nd round is upcoming soon whereas yours not even 1st round. As the GR80 km usage is longer than your toyo, you will hear the tyre noise soon due to thread wear. stick to toyo unless your stock tyre does not gives good road handling and braking

Considering a set of new tyre can typically last 40,000km or 2 yrs. For this tyre that already run for 18,000km, would have almost halve its lifespan gone. So you have to deduct whatever cost of this GR80 price when new by half. And you are left with the second halve of lifespan which will be noisier and performing not so well with some degree of rubber hardening. And not forget the $50 top-up. Sorry for being very frank, even if swap free, I also will not consider.

please do not save of tyres.

They are the only contact between the car and the road .At most the size of your palm only.

So save that $50 for the BEST tyres you can buy when time comes , please.
