Sosaria Twincharged April 18, 2008 Share April 18, 2008 Very much yes. Look at the way prices are rising now without control. Since we consumers are left to the mercy of "market forces" here in singapore, our reaction would be to cut down on spending. Then companies producing these goods and services will experience reduced revenue, so they have to cut down as well, and so on. But it's good to have one, to force prices back down to normal... Jman888 Moderator April 18, 2008 Share April 18, 2008 looks like singaporean very optimistic, but dont understand why healthcare think there will be recession also depends on who they conduct the survey with, i believe the 20-30 vote for NO and the 40-50 vote for YES
Kelpie 2nd Gear April 19, 2008 Share April 19, 2008 I think the question should be a mild or long-drawn recession? The business outlook seems tough in the coming 2Q to the 3Q. 4Q remains uncertain. But if the worse is behind US by end of 2Q, there will be hope of a "brush-through" of a mild recession. Anyway, 1Q showing unexpectedly good for Singapore . Yaloryalor 5th Gear April 19, 2008 Share April 19, 2008 I think Singapore in next 6 month will not have recession but the spending power will be lesser pa. With everything increased in price, ppl will be more cautious when buying especially big items.
Tortoise777 Neutral Newbie April 19, 2008 Share April 19, 2008 When the world's largest and influential GIANT economy gets badly affected, do u believe the given crisis management experiences and results - Singapore should fare better than 99% of the world due to its "world class" high caliber and top capable leaders around? Many continue to sleep & dream that they are on an island perennially not affected by wind or rainstorm

Throttle2 Supersonic April 20, 2008 Share April 20, 2008 A recession is no big deal, it's part of the scheme of bigger things, like all others. anyway, recession doesnt mean no growth is just means less growth compared to previous stipulated time periods measured It is also possible tecnically to slip in and out of recession and in and out again. No economy can escape recession, the only issue is HOW LONG
