dear bros...

i just changed to 5w20 oil (previously on 5w40) and hv run 300km.

somehow, now i experienced at expressway speeds 80-90kmh, the car is difficult to maintain speed (like not responsive, hv to step harder to maintain speed, compared to last time)...is this normal for a thinner oil? confused.gif

can bros on same weight oil share?? thank you thank you. thumbsup.gif

I'm using 20wt oil on my 7yr old City (180k km mileage) for the past 4-5yr, no problem of these sort. In fact, i could push above 180+ km/hr in NSH when i visit my relative there. Now avg 14km/L.

Turbocharged

imo, avoid red-lining or prolonging high rpm if u use a very thin oil like 20wt, cos it may thin out further, rendering little or not enough protection to the engine

for me, i use a grade thicker than the minimum recommended weight..

and u have gone over 180kmh on a city? salute u bro [sweatdrop]

i drove once some years back.. steering very light even at low speeds..

0W20 user here, this oil weight is also recommended my owner's manual and my UOA results are excellent.

FC improved and car feels a tad more responsive at low revs as compared to agent's mineral 20W50. [rifle][rifle]

What is the age and make of your vehicle? Could it be psychological?

The >180km/hr thing is to test top speed and clear carbon. Just a sprint after the toll and not sustain speed. Anyway at >160km/hr, my City feel like flying liao... hahaha

wat oil? some organic based ester hv been known to display dips in viscousity. this will result in poor oil pressure. possibly this is wat u hv experienced.

but then again, it may b ur crankcase not suitable for this range of oil.

hi bro...my experience (400km) on this oil...is quite silent the engine...in fact no diff from my previous 5w40, in terms of idling n cold starts (i was stil thinking mayb i hv to warm up longer in the mornings w this oil but no such issue)....only complaint is the lag at expressway speeds... unsure.gif

Neutral Newbie

i'm on a wt20 oil too. no regrets.

i don't even notice a change in engine 'roughness'.

i find the revving even better with thinner oils - but i'm not a cheongster.

at what speeds/rpm do you feel the sluggishness?
