FK452 vs RE001

Its not noisy in terms of screeching. Cornering hard and it feels really sharp. but at the limits, there is some sliding/drifting feel(for a FWD car) hehe. I know if I push it harder, it might just give.

Used it at Sepang before on very hot day, the grip isn't good enough, 2 hot laps was best (at ambient temp of 37 degrees, I think track temp was a lot above 40. I was told the RE050As would be a bit better, but I can't confirm. Even the 070 could do about 4 hot laps. I can feel the car sliding at the corners.

even in singapore, when I attempt similiar corners, its pretty nice, but once you start going at it at higher speeds, you know that its about to slide, and I back off. not from sound not from feel, just that the car isn't holding the lines it normally does with AD07s, RS2. but comparing with these tires isn't fair.

Just that at its limit, the compound is so hard, the grooves don't open up enough to give you the sound that its near the limit, or that the screeching isn't audible.

For most drivers, its very good in terms of wear and tear, grip in wet and dry. Maybe for drift tire it might work pretty well and long lasting.

btw, I was on 18s, 225/40/18 on a 18x8 rims. heavy FWD car. so different cars got different handling characteristics. if your car is lighter or RWD, or different tires/rim size, you'll get different feeling from the drive. dont' use one bamboo and whack all tires!

hope you enjoy my write up.

btw, after 24 laps, the tires are still in good condition. wear rate, 1+,m only. grooves and evenness of wear is still good. normal driving conditions, its still very good.

Hehe, now my own simple FR (not very good in expressing) on the FK452 (Yes got it since Stamford was near my office and damn my AD07s was really botak)

1st impression : I really enjoy looking at the grooves. It's thread design told me it should be a nice tyre for wet conditions.

After installation, the moment I moved my car, I could notice the noise immediately But told myself for $200 per pc, can't really complain.

After about 1500km, went to PG last sun. After 2 laps of warming up, I decided to test-water for a lap and wack it on the 2nd lap. Track temp : unknown but it was a very very hot day! 1st lap, was quite impressed with the hold but not much feedback from the corners/apex. 2nd lap, tried to nego the apex at a higher speed. The hold was still there, only slight understeer (maybe i wasn't fast enough).

Upon resting in pit, was taking a look at the tires, thread wear wasn't that bad except for a small peel. Decided to get a fren who is on RE070 on my car and we went for another 3 laps. He was also quite impressed with the tires as well.

At the end of the PG session (Did 12 laps), I discover uneven wear as the threadwear indicator was -2mm on the front (is it normal since i'm driving a FF car)and the rest of the tires still ok. I would say the tires will last me for another good 20K. Overall I'm happy with the tires except for the noise. Haven't really got a chance to try the wet.

Neutral Newbie

I've been running with the FK452s for the past 25000km. Dry grip is good. But the strength of these tires are in the wet. Very confidence inspiring and minimal aquaplaning. As for the noise, I've yet to be affected by it. Guess its personal tolerance level. Cheers. smile.gif

I agree, it's strength is in the wet. After taking it to pg 2 weeks back, it's grip finally gave way that caused me to almost spin out. Now can only take it to normal street driving. Time to go for RS2 since it looks similar to AD07 (IMO still a better choice for track) [:)]
