Redliner_sg Neutral Newbie June 12, 2003 Share June 12, 2003 Quote I dont think so, if I depress accelerator the car would have move fast forward, in this case it stop but surge forward bit by bit. I guess that becos you were depressing both the accelerator and brake, so one pedal says go, other says stop. Press both hard and see which one wins, Hence you got your shivering and shuddering effect ↡ Advertisement

Madarmour Neutral Newbie June 12, 2003 Share June 12, 2003 Quote i think abs is good when cornering, avoiding objects and on wet weather. but come to e braking, it may be a minus point. Nope, ABS allows you to steer while braking so I think it's a good for e-braking too. And ABS should not be used when cornering. ABS or not, we shouldn't e-brake during a cornering manouver. Madarmour Neutral Newbie June 12, 2003 Share June 12, 2003 Quote What r we to do when ABS kicks in? I think I ever encountered that and the car shakes, I was so scared I put gear in N. Is this correct? The car surge forward and almost kiss a Merc Just keep pressure on the brake pedal and your car will come nicely to a stop. Do not touch the gear knob. Keep both hands on your steering. When the ABS is engaged, your car does not shake. It's just the pulsating sensation at the brake pedal when your brake is engaged and disengaged in quick succession. It is desirable for you to get a good feel of the ABS. Try practisinc in an empty carpark after rain. Once familiar, you will not be taken by surprise. Just my $0.02. Cheers! Madarmour Neutral Newbie June 12, 2003 Share June 12, 2003 Quote at low speed on a dry road, it's unlikely the abs would've kicked in. errr...maybe u panic n stepped on gas pedal??? Sometimes the ABS does kick in on dry road, especially when e-braking at a rather high speed.

Modeldriver Neutral Newbie June 12, 2003 Share June 12, 2003 Think these days quite ok to do after market ABS. Important thing is the workshop that installs it. Almost 10 years back I recall already there's this ABSTrax after market thing - which after that I saw even quite a number of dealers locally package it into their cars (before ABS became regular fixture for even 1.6 cars). E21s Neutral Newbie June 12, 2003 Share June 12, 2003 "And ABS should not be used when cornering. ABS or not, we shouldn't e-brake during a cornering manouver." It reminds me of those motorsport racing game in computer that I played. The game simulates performance of sport car to the actual real world. When there is a tight corner, if a player jams the brake and turns the steering at the same time, the car will skid and out into gravel. The trick is that the player must jam the brake to slow down before the corner and in fact should accelerate slightly when turning. Even in F1, you see these ppl jam brake b4 the turn. Moral of the story: no e-brake during a tight corner.

Moral of the story: no e-brake during a tight corner. Well, they are trying to make the racing games as realistic as possible. In fact, we shouldn't brake at all in a corner. All action should have been planned and executed before the corner. Control can be done thru the throttle.
