Proton recalls 34,000 Savvy supermini cars

KUALA LUMPUR - MALAYSIA'S national auto maker Proton said on Monday it was recalling 34,000 Savvy supermini cars because of malfunction risks.

 

In a statement, Proton said there was a possibility of water entry into the rear wheel bearing that could lead to a malfunction of affected components.

 

'As a precautionary measure, we are recalling all Savvys for inspection and repair,' Proton Managing Director Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said in the statement issued through the national news agency Bernama.

 

The statement did not give details of any complaints reported so far.

 

The company urged Savvy owners to bring their vehicles for free inspections at its centers. -- AP

Anyone got check out this problem, i heard the rear window was not passed the regulation.. very sad that i just booked this car "Savvy" hope it's worth the price.

Do a check. The exports and domestic ones are quite diff in terms of quality

a lot of Savvy at Teban for the rear bearing inspection. Savvy fuel consumption

is good. I dont have window problem

Anyone savvy owners pls give me guidances, when i brake my car(amt "D" gear)the underneath got grup grup sound make me very worry T.T crying of buying such car heartpain

 

I suspect is gearbox or driveshaft problem

Check with my friend in Proton....your Savvy AMT engine and gearbox is from Renault...its a characteristic of this AMT to have sound due to the pump....AMT is not a conventional Auto..is actually a manual gearbox but operater without clutch action..cos there is a pump (actuator) to perform the clutch action automatically...so need not worry...

guys i sincerely warn u all not to buy proton, not only quality even service and all are very lousy.

 

I wasted my saving contribute to this lousy car , i am sad...

Huh? My company has a few Proton and other make...but so far so good. In fact Proton is not the most problematic.... anyway I have seen more expensive lemon also

 

Dun feel sad...u can always work hard and move your way "up" and would know each make has their own issue, sometime is your expectation

no problem bro... i got the 1st batch all good till recently itchy ass wants to drive 08 fit... now switching over... not saying proton savvy no good i got climb up genting before.. some of the savvy owners do try before...

okay, but not even i said this way. my jb frd also commented very poor quality all that...

 

Can, Can, i adjust myself. cuz my frd and family mostly using japanese and korea car.. maybe u can say not fair, i understand..

 

Pls dun be fed up, this is only my personal view..
