Similar story as the sembawang incident...was driving towards Jurong at 5.55am this morning for golf in malaysia when I saw flashing lights of an emergency veh at the junction of Clementi Rd and Commonwealth Ave west near the mosque. Black MPV badly damaged and lying in the drain along the central divider underneath the MRT track. 10foot lorry facing the direction of Singapore Poly with front driver side badly damaged...ambulance was already at the scene but I think they were unable to get the trapped person/s out of the MPV...This is the same junction where the Harley guy got killed when he hit a SBS bus... [shakehead]

reminded me of my near-miss which happened many years ago.

it happened at the junction of woodlands ave 7 and gambus ave.

i was waiting at the junction to turn right onto gambus ave. right green arrow came on and just as I was abt to move, out the corner of my eye, i saw something big coming on my right.

luckily managed to brake in time but still hit the side of the lorry. if i had moved a few seconds earlier, i think my car would have become airborned.

scolded the bloody driver as he came down. but the driver seemed to be in a daze.

then he called somebody, who came in another car, and this bloody lorry driver drove off!

police came, took statements, etc.

in the end, they only charged the lorry driver with inconsiderate driving! knn.

I live at Sunset Way and always go pass that junction.... it definitely is a hot spot... especially for vehicles travelling from Singapore Poly right turning into Clementi road. The green arrow for the right turn will appear for 2 FLASH only... so it's like... some driver not experienced with the area will see the green arrow come on and think "ho seh liao can chiong the right turn" and hit the gas. Then after 2 flashes (about 3 seconds total) it will go off! Then said driver will either slam the brakes or charge across and maybe get hit by some impatient fxxker coming from Clementi MRT towards Singapore Poly....

The right turn from Clementi Road into Commenwealth Ave is more regulated and better.... and a lot of visibility of the oncoming traffic... but this also instills a sense of false confidence in 2f2f drivers...

Nowdays just watch your own backside... don't care who's right or wrong or who has the right of way... just make sure you and your ride make it safely from Point A to Point B. Too many crazy idiots on the roads nowdays!!!

Forget to add... it's a good policy to just slow down and keep an eye open when approaching a cross junction even if it's green light and you have the right of way. Can't count the number of times I slowed down when approaching a cross junction with the green light in my favour only to have some lorry/ricer/van make a right turn into a collision path with me if I had continued on all full speed.... [sweatdrop]
