Just had to get it off my chest

After yrs of nagging my hubby to be more considerate to others when he parks, I finally made my own boo-boo last night.

Ard 10+ last night at Tampines, the bend beside the MRT station, the position which I parked just nice prevented the IKEA shuttle bus from making the turn.

I had originally not parked there. Very ironically, I had shifted my car forward from my original parking position, thinking that my original parking position would make it difficult for the van parked almost adjacent to me to exit later. And thus ended up in that fateful position.

I don't know why, but I guess I just wasn't thinking too clearly at the time. The bus did not occur to me at the time. As I was going to be off for only 10-15 min, put on my hazard lights and left. The shuttle bus hadn't arrived at that time.

Then when I came back, saw to my horror that the bus was stuck and a few vehicles behind it. Was honestly apologetic and wanted to move off ASAP to clear the mini-jam, but was prevented and verbally abused by the bus driver and another driver and his passenger for a few minutes. Not that I blame them though. All I could say was sorry. No point making excuses for my lapse in thinking and judgement.

After finally moving off, and going some distance already, the driver of a white van beside me (who was probably stuck earlier too) drove up beside me, wound down his windows, asked why I parked there and verbally abused me, then before I could even respond or apologise, revved hard and drove off.

This incident really bothered me, because I am the type who always tries to straighten my car or make sure my car is parked in the centre of the lot or at least balanced out between the cars beside, even if it takes a few adjustments.

It bothered me from last night til this morning, I was still feeling bad about it. [:(]

Finally decided to post it here to get it off my chest, despite knowing that I'll probably attract more abuse and labels of "parking idiot".

To the bus driver and the vehicles stuck behind who may be reading this, I sincerely apologise again.

I thought of writing an email to IKEA to ask them not to penalise the bus driver for his late arrival and explain that the situation was my fault. I'm not sure if they actually penalise but I suppose the management would be unhappy if the bus did not meet schedule? Is it necessary to do so?

Thanks for reading. I just had to get this off my chest.

Yeah, think my mind was preoccupied with too many things. And it was right after a long day at work too. Had just finished and left work before the incident happened.

But just feel very very bad lor. And just cannot fathom why I was so blur last night. Maybe like what you said, tired and stressed. I am definitely not the just bochup, park and go off type.

sister, everybody make mistakes. at least you are the rare few who actually acknowledged that you could have done better. kudos to you.

if only the young punks *uncles and aunties included* driving recklessly on the road think and behave like you, there won't be an increasing trend in tree wrappers or accidents.

when oh when the authorities will do something about putting a stop to equipping these immatures with machines ??

flamming galore acoming if some forummers wish to read more into my reply [:p]

I guess for once the women's charter dosen't have to come into play seeing as how you were verbally abused (probably your modesty was outraged not once, but many times).

[rolleyes]

[laugh] I think u got what u deserved for your selfish behaviour.

For your own convinence, other ppl had to waste their time just to wait for your highness to return. I think if u were in their shoes, u would have done the same(cursing & swearing).

Now u know that it's not a matter of how u stop your car, it's about where u parked it.

As a matter of fact, you are inconsiderate in your actions. Saying sorry or telling us of your plight does not mitigate the consequences of your inconsiderate actions. You deserve to be scolded by the irritated motorists. I would do the same if I were them. [whip]

I was there the day before as well. Parked right at the door of the construction site so that the bus can turn. In any case, sxxt happens. Just be more mindful in future. [;)]

NB... I would have called the police. Nevermind if I get fined for illegal parking. He would be slapped with theft (for moving the vehicle) and mischief (for breaking the window) charges.

If I was there I would have told the people who were scolding her to get over it. Its done already and she was sorry. Its not as if she didn't realise she made a mistake. What would they expect her to do? Reverse time and not park there???
