all prelaunch engine will boast tonnes of improvement over the replacement engine.....I'll take it with a pinch of salt for now.

 

the crunch will be in how mazda apply this new engine to the car..ie. engine characteristic must suit the car's image, handling and purpose.

i am not too worry on how they are going to apply this engine. just look at how good the mx5 and rx8 handles, i am pretty sure they will get the right chasis for this engine too

 

the only thing that's worrying is the design of the car. hopefully it doesn't turn out too ugly. very often, the design will screw up if they try too hard

heard it should do around 260 to 280 bhp. not really power but at least better than the current 13B renesis

Think might be around or in excess of 300 BHP, improvements over the 13B includes bigger capacity, 1600cc vs 1308cc, already bigger by more than 20%, factor in direct injection, should be higher than the 250bhp output of 13B. Unless more strigent emissions comes into play, though they did mention its "cleaner" too.

actually the current 13B makes 237 bhp only, i think only japan one makes 250 ps. if u add another 20% more it'll be around 280 bhp to 300 bhp. but now it has longer stroke, so hopefully the torque is better

True, JDM varaiant higher bhp probably due to EITHER higher octane petrol or less stringent emissions or both. Power is one thing, more curious on the torque gains and better FC....... imagine if all parameters improve by say 15% to 20%, then looking at around for export models: approximately 275bhp, 245Nm, 1 litre 8-8.5km.....and lastly hope dun consume too much oil!!!
