Hi,

I'm a student from Singapore Management University embarking on a project in course, Technology & World Change. My team is intending to build a device which will solve the tailgating issue in Singapore.

As we all know, tailgating is a major cause for most accidents. Our device works like this:

1. A sensor will be attached to the front of the vehicle to detect the distance between itself and the car in front.

2. Once the sensor detects tailgating, meaning a distance of less than 1metre between 2 cars, it will trigger an alarm to the driver. To notify him that he is tailgating the car in front.

The full mechanics and details of our device have yet to be finalized. However, we'd like to hear from you, your views and takes on our innovation.

We hope that you guys can give us feedback on our innovation!

Please revert to us at daniel.soh.2008@smu.edu.sg.

Thanks!!

You are so Off Topic.

How nice would it be if all the checks can be performed by the computer. Causeway Traffic, Tailgating, petrol level, bladder level and nearest toilet available on the expressway.

There is so much uncertainty on the roads...

No thanks ah,

Rongxiang

Ya it will be good... when a car behind is travelling faster than the car infront... so the DEVICE... will automatically bring the car to another lane...

No road hogging... therefore no tailgating....

Cheers....

Maybe the device could do this way.

When detected a car is tailgating, it will send a command to the ECU of the car behind to ease off the acceleration. The driver at the back can step flat the accelerator but the ECU will just ignore.

Then, for the car behind, when detected a road hogger in front, It will send a command to the ECU of the car to accelerate.

If all cars have this feature, then bravo! No more speeding ticket! No more accident! No more hefty insurance premium! All workshop close shop!

... OK, better wake up from my day dreaming...

I found this number in ICA website and it is kind of useful if you have no access to the web for the website view of the causeway.
