Pisces69 6th Gear April 1, 2008 Share April 1, 2008 AH! Finally someone who is actually using the i550w. Is it really that slow? U mean it cannot b used as a car GPS while driving around? Does it have the "voice prompt" function? I see the TV ads of the Nokia 6110 & it looks really impressive. ↡ Advertisement

Route88 2nd Gear April 1, 2008 Share April 1, 2008 Quote N95 which i totaly REGRET. The only plus pt is the 5MP camera... =================== I too heard that model is not that good as a GPS. I heard the 6110 is better but I'm still not 100% convinced. I now see Samsung has come out with a couple of GPS phones & the price is quite reasonable. I'm considering them also. N95 has the latest f/w which incorporate agps...should has some improvement
Route88 2nd Gear April 1, 2008 Share April 1, 2008 Quote So far its good. Maps are FOC,voice navi is not Wanna ask u,does malsingmap update Jurong Island? I've compare msm and Nokia maps, msm only show JI highway JI is still considered a restricted area, thus MSM is not going to put a lot of "details" in there... Garmin Official maps, shows a lot, but they are mostly 'outdated'.. that's what I heard... thanks to our SLA lah.. I think purposely one... Hmm...i dont see any issue with security. Every entry point got army/polis jaga wearing dark sunglasses. They scared terror pin point co-ordinates for airplane to strike issit . Then air-force is for what huh. Those specific refineries are not impt, but makan place/roads should be added

Hey buddy welcome to N82 users

[/rely] samseng i550w look ok 2.6inch screen ,spec almost similar to n82 minus the camera and ram, maybe the gps software sucks. You can install mapking or GMXT for tat purpose
Vooth 2nd Gear April 1, 2008 Share April 1, 2008 Quote R U referring to the Samsung i550w that's selling for abt $188 in recent papers advertisement? I didn't know it was a PDA phone? This model is on offer & comes with a 1GB card, car holder & car charger for free . This looks like exactly what I am looking for but I'm not sure how reliable the GPS is & if it comes with "voice prompt. I walked past M1 and saw the promo but doubt it's the i550w. The one I saw costs $298 with $200 trade-in so should be higher end model. If the phone is using the SIRF chipset, then reliability is not a problem. And also, go get Mapking, don't use their native gps software, better imho Once you decide to go the pda route, let me know and I'll direct you to a friendly site

Pisces69 6th Gear April 1, 2008 Share April 1, 2008 Quote u buying one bro? how are u? I just came back from a convoy trip to melaka and KL...but need pay one ==================== I am looking for a phone with GPS. Was considering the Nokia 6110 but now Samsung also come out with a couple of GPS phones. But I am getting negative feedback about them. I need to do somemore research b4 I decide what to get. If it cannot function well as a GPS, then I just won't get lah. Convoy trip to Melaka & KL????? Why u pay premium to go with them? Was it worth? We can gather our own "convoy" here in MCF lah. I tot going to Kuantan wud have been a nicer option. I found Melaka boring. Maybe even Terengganu wud b nice. I prefer the open spaces & simple life. N95 has the latest f/w which incorporate agps...should has some improvement ======================== So the N95 is a better GPS? I don't need all those other functions so I don't want to have to pay for them. All I need is a phone to make/receive calls & SMS'. It sud have good reception & battery can last long. Now wud like a GPS too which I can use in the car & carry in my pocket. All the other stuff I never use.
Pisces69 6th Gear April 1, 2008 Share April 1, 2008 I wud prefer the phone to come with all the necessary software. Installing additional software might void the warranty or worse, affect the other functions. So the 1550w does not have a camera? That is a very useful function. Pisces69 6th Gear April 1, 2008 Share April 1, 2008 But I see PDA's normally quite bulky. I prefer something small like a phone that slips easily into my pocket.
Riverfish 2nd Gear April 1, 2008 Share April 1, 2008 since you want to simple phone, one option is Nokia 6120 classic. It's free with 2-year contract now. Comes with all the functions you'd need. For GPS just buy a bluetooth GPS receiver. The phone runs on Symbian OS, so you can find lots of free software to install on the phone.

Jlkl Clutched April 1, 2008 Share April 1, 2008 Hi do you need to install other gps softwares for N82 or is the original nokia maps good enough? Need your advice as i've been thinking of getting this N82 but the colour, button's shape and reliability of the gps are keeping my purchase on hold. Thanks. Pisces69 6th Gear April 1, 2008 Share April 1, 2008 Thanks but buying a separate GPS & connecting via bluetooth is a bit troublesome. I might also need the GPS while out of the car. That's why I am looking for a decent phone with built-in GPS function. ↡ Advertisement
