for your info,

1.this car is put under sport sedan car....so u will be paying your insurance premium much higher than other normal saloon car... [thumbsdown]

2.if u are over 30's, u will have a slightly lower premium....but not very low cos insurance for car has just went up for abt 30%..... [thumbsdown]

3.for stock SiR, with no modification....u will be looking at 10km/l (without vtec the car [thumbsdown] ) but if u really love the vtec [thumbsup][thumbsup][thumbsup] .....it's about 8-9km/l.....

4.stock is good, but if u prefer handling....u will need to invest some good stuff into the car to make sure the car has good handling but at the expense of the comfort u getting from stock shock absorbers.....it will be highly recommended for Tein HA coilover....whereby u feel minimal body roll....stock strut is good enough...can think of getting a rear strut to increase the body from flexing.... but still the suspension is the main consent....if u got a good set of suspension, u won't even need to think abt strut as well... [thumbsup]

if u want to, we can meet up at the next forum meetup to discuss more abt SiR..... [thumbsup][nod][thumbsup][nod]

HC1883: Actually the thing about respray and having others calling it an "accident" car. Where's the logic behind it, if it were an accident I could have still resprayed it in its original colour too right [:p] my concerns are more on quality and cost.

Hi Tarmac,

Championship white is a good colour choice. [thumbsup][thumbsup] For the black, I think it should be Nighthawk Black Pearl unless there's a different black for the EK series Civic. Red is quite a good choice too. At the end of the day, it all boils down to personal preference. [;)]

Consumption of the SiR really depends on how the car is driven. If you like to rev the VTEC once in a while, then consumption will likely suffer. [:/]

Regarding the respray thingy, I wouldn't be too bothered if the respray job is professionally done.

As you have put it, if you (touch wood) get into an accident and resprayed your whole car to the original colour and the job is done well, it is unlikely anyone will be able to tell that it's an accident car unless the car is sent for evaluation at STA or AA. Even then, there's no guarantee that they will be able to tell that the car's an accident vehicle.

And yes, quality and cost should be the factor when deciding on whether to go for a respray job. I've heard of instances where a respray job only cost like S$800 but a few months down the road, the paintwork turns dull or fade.

Yes. Power to weight ratio.

IMHO the new Civic looks much nicer than the SiR but the power output + rear drums lets it down. Maybe that's what they call grown up.... kinda sad.

Hi Tarmac,

A budget of S$1,200 should be able to get a decent respray job done for the SiR. You'll need to call around and make some enquiries before you decide on which one to go to. Just ensure that the shop you eventually choose is a reliable one. [nod]

Good luck with your purchase and respray job. [;)]
