The Ministry of Home Affairs has responded to queries from the Workers' Party regarding the Committee of Inquiry's probe into Mas Selamat Kastari's escape from detention.

According to the ministry, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng has said that after the inquiry is completed, the public will get a full account of how Mas Selamat escaped and what has been done to tighten security to prevent a repeat of such incident.

In a statement to the media, the chairman of the Workers' Party, Sylvia Lim, had asked if the public would be given full information as the committee was convened under the Prisons Act.

She said under the Act, such inquiries are not open to the public and that no part of the proceedings may be released to anyone without the minister's written permission. - CNA/ac

Don't count on it. When was the last time that you heard any politician or government (anywhere in the world) come totally clean with the public? There're bound to be cover-ups, scapegoats, putting of words in context/wordplay, withholding of vital info, and/or modified storylines. All these in the name of National Security. Welcome to the world of politics. [:|]

To avoid more embarressment on the immigration loop-hole Fark-up ?

So can do more high profile search and wayang thier way through ?

Maybe after another 2 to 3 weeks, paper headlines will scream as follows.... ha ha ha sweatdrop.gifsweatdrop.gifsweatdrop.gif

"Badly Decomposed Body Found in Jungle.

Suspected to be the body of escapee JI leader Mas Selamat. Found in such a badly decomposed state, DNA cannot be taken accurately but all evidences point to his leg. There seems to be an injured leg this body has, showing possible signs that in his living days he may have walked with a limp.

An official spokeman gave his opinion on the findings,"Of course, we are relieved that we have found Mas but on the other hand; is the finding conclusive? In my opinion, yes we have every reason to believe that the body belongs to Mas as there is no way he can make out of Singapore alive with our tight perimeter security. With his death, no one can conclusively tell the story on how the escape managed to take place. Its an honest mistake, let's move on.""
