14 months to learn church's decision on donation refund

I WAS a member of City Harvest Church and left the church in December 2006. By the time I left, I had donated $5,500 to the church for its building fund project. After I left, I suffered financial difficulties. I was in between jobs and there were hefty, unforeseen medical bills. I was told by my friends and church members that I could seek a refund for my donation because there were similar precedents.

I asked two church leaders in my group, that is, the cell group leader and the zone leader, whether such a refund was possible, and they replied that the refund would not be a problem. The next month, I was told to send an official request via e-mail to the zone leader after I asked my cell group leader regarding the status of my request. Despite constant reminders, I received no response for months.

That was when I told my zone leader about my financial situation and the medical bills. He promised to expedite my request. Still, nothing happened. Finally, after 14 months since I first made my request for a refund with my two leaders, I received an official e-mail which said: 'We are unable to comply due to our policy on donations.' If it was merely a case of policy rules, why did it take so long to tell me I couldn't get a refund? This, on top of the fact that I was told at the onset that I could obtain a refund. I understand that my donation was freely given, but why the false hope?

I was a member of Geyland Lorong 69 Secret Soceity and left the Soceity in Dec 2006.

By the time I left, I had 'donated' $5500 to the secret society for it's 'protection fund'. After that I suffered financial difficulties. I was inbetween jobs of an runner , part time Ah long and stake out pimp for China dolls and I had hefty, unforeseen medical bills. I was told by my buddies that I could seek a refund of my 'donation' from the Big Boss becasue there were similiar precedents.

I asked two leaders from Lorongs 70 and 71 respectively, whether such refunds were possible and they replied that such refund would not be a problem. The next month I sent an official request via a runner to the Big Boss Villa and Giant Mansion. But it seems like the Big Boss 'bo hew' my request despite my repeated reminders.

That was when I told my Mini Boss about my financial suituation and request. He promised to expedite my request. Still nothing happended. Finally after 40 months since I first made my request for a refund with my two Lorong leaders, I received a visit from an official runner ( wearing a T-shirt with Big Red words stamped on his back which reads: Big Boss Right Hand Man) which through him, he said : ' You think this is what?..your Grandfather's foundations is it? You voluntarily give money and now want it back!...You think you can 'su ka su ka' walk in and out of the society and tell my Big Boss that you want money back from him?..If you didn't kenna 'hood', Big Boss already give you face..so you better fxxk off..O.K?' Nah..her songs that are popular in the US is only those dance hits (she recorded some dance hit singles and hit the top 5 in billboard dance chart at times)..other than that, her normal albums dun really sell that well in the US..she goes to Los angeles often to help promote her album sales there..and Congrats reportedly flew there twice a month to accompany her at one stage..haha..singing dance hits and commerical love songs and my fren still dare say she used her songs to connect to pple over the world and save them...speechless..

I actually dun quite like the way she mention abt her sexual abuse story..sometimes appear to me she using it as some kind of publicity to boost her album sales..I mean, she actually mention it not once, but a few times...during church services and once she reveal the details to media during the launch of her new album..most pple who suffered such trauma would have preferred not to talk abt such things, but she seems scared pple dunno her sad story like tat and so eager to tell the whole wide world..weird, isn't it?? [shakehead]

Think theese churches strategy is the same. Making church-going a fun experience such that it attracts the younger population into joining them (many of CHC members are less than 30 yrs of age). The younger ones are also more easily influenced when it comes to idol worshipping and stuff like tat.. [shakehead]

dun say until like MLM leh...or like those timeshare schemes [rolleyes]

I still rem the time when I had a discussion with this fren whom is a member of this church. I was asking her why is it that Sun as a pastor, seems rather preoccupied abt personal fame and concentrating so much in ekeing out a career in pop singing, so much so that she hardly appear in church services (from what I heard thru other church goers) anymore? She reply me 'Sun is trying to connect with every section of the population with her songs and save the world'. Erm...but wat kind of songs is she singing in the first place? Its not even gospel. Mostly are love songs...

Like that also can??? [dizzy][dizzy][dizzy]
