It was mentioned the B-pillar is removed and the door is lengthened. About structural integrity I ain't sure. Just thought it was something interesting, especially in Singapore where some drivers loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee to park so closely to you until you can't open your door. With this, you can now "open" your door and even wave & smile at him.

 

This is only a prototype, according to the narration. It will be interesting to see in real life... since a lot of hype is on "Future Cars" these days.

defintiely very cool. american love this sort of gimmicks.

 

but lots of question to be answered.

1. side impact crash integrity

2. side airbags?

3. how much weight is added to the car?

4. how much extra battery power is needed?

5. by sliding the car downwards, they have to make the door thin and light... will definitely compromise structural safety

6. no more side bins pockets to be used

7. additional ground clearance needed.

 

i guess the idea is there. but it probably will not make into mainstream in the next 10 years or more.

 

LTA will not pass this mod.
