Go for Holiday Inn. It's new and clean.[thumbsup] Rooms are ok...the usual 3-star standard.

If you are willing to spend a lot more (5-star prices)...you can try the new hotel 'Majestic' by the YTL group (owns Ritz, Marriot, Starhill, Lot 10, etc...). It's the housed in some old shop houses with a very nice interior and a big couryard. [thumbsup][thumbsup]

Mahkota really need some work done. The last time I stayed there was in 2004...it was already very run down...no longer like it was over 10yrs ago. [shakehead][shakehead]

1. I thought the new Holiday Inn Melaka is a 5 stars hotel hence the price that it is commanding?

2. I managed to book a deluxe room at HI for RM203 Nett with 2 free breakfast. So HI, there I go [thumbsup]. The cheapest internet rate directly from HI also can't beat the price and no free breakfast. You guys can try MYcuti.com.

Should be a 3-star. Didn't feel and look like a 5 star to me. Regardless of it's star-status...it's worth the $$$...cos it's new and the room are clean. Come with LG LCD TV. [thumbsup]

Lucky you - that I saw this thread.... Hahahahaz! [laugh]

Having a conference this year so went on a recce. Which means the hotels showed us the works.

Of the hotels we saw, I recommend either the Renaissance or the Holiday Inn. Renaissance is the luxurious, warm type. Smack in the middle of town, lots of good eating. Holiday Inn is the modern type. Next to Makhota Parade so shopping haven. They've also got a new food court next to the hotel named...wait for it... "Newton Cultural Food Hall" [laugh]

These two hotels are well kept - you will not regret.

For some reasons, I always missed the Renaissance. Somehow find the location neither here nor there. Wife likes to shop hence Holiday Inn is a better place if want walking distance to shopping centres and shops, Junker and Historical sites.

Legacy is another one, also close to Renaissance. Did you go for the "Eyes of Melaka" and the Tourist digital mall?

equtorial 4 star seems to be a better choice, seems very new compare to renaissance which is 5 star. the last time i took a coach there, only i drop off at renaissance while the rest of the passengers stayed at equitorial

There are 3 x 5 stars hotel in Town Centre, Equtorial, Holiday Inn and Renaissance. I stayed in Eq twice but has since shun it because of the busy road right infront of the hotel. IMHO, it is not a car friendly hotel.
