Limws1 1st Gear June 4, 2003 Author Share June 4, 2003 I am driving Accent 1.5 manual. I don't really have a choice for the cat when changing to 4-2-1. It's either extractor with no cat, or with cat but no extractor. ↡ Advertisement

Hkfung Neutral Newbie June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 after changing to hotbit ext, just fix a straight pipe and when inspection comes, go fix a normal cat
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 Just curious - U tok to who ? Fong Kim and Jeep Chee ? Anyway, Fong Kim told me that de-meowing will help in the low to mid-range, while doing muffler job will help at high end. However, am told that if exhaust is improved, need to look at intake system too. As to the yearly inspection, it also depends on car - am also told that usually ECU with lambda sensors etc would adjust depending on flow and would make adjustments. While there may be a smell, may not fail emissions test either - so long as engine is efficient in more complete burn. Believe the test is more for CO (carbon monoxide) which is more harmful. Modeldriver Neutral Newbie June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 Actually, U could even be more adventurous and try to go for twin exhaust if you are already into changing the extractor, cat and muffler already.

Modeldriver Neutral Newbie June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 goes w/o saying... then depends on whether or not there's a 'legal' version for you, if so,keep the LTA approval handy in the car
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 When remove Cat, there will be some slighty smell from exhaust. But most important of all, you might fail the CO2 test when you go for inspection. Removing cat won't fail CO2 test as the cat filters more NOx and other nasty stuff rather than CO2...honestly the test equipment used are really out of date, in california they test for almost every chemical known to come out of the exhaust
Gadgeter 2nd Gear June 5, 2003 Share June 5, 2003 Is it? Hmmmmm.... Then I shall not worry about it anymore..
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie June 7, 2003 Share June 7, 2003 Only thing to be concerned with is the actual cat-shaped muffler that they may look out for
Turtlekar 2nd Gear June 7, 2003 Share June 7, 2003 I am driving Accent 1.5 manual. I don't really have a choice for the cat when changing to 4-2-1. It's either extractor with no cat, or with cat but no extractor. bro, what plan have u got in your mind? if u are looking for more freeflow....u have to ensure the diameter of the new extractor did not alter much of it air flow....too much back pressure is good for low end, but will lose out on the high end....too little is the reverse.....by removing the cat will enhance your flow better....having operation on the muffler side also sounds good but it has to be done professionally or else u get nothin out of it overall, the important thing is the diameter of the piping....u can check it out with saaber....he's an expert
