Limws1 1st Gear June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 Hi, I got two exhaust modification options from two shops: 1. Change to hotbits centre box Replace pipe starting from flexible joint from original 1.5" to 1.6" Operate on stock muffler 2. Change to hotbits 4-2-1 extractor (Cat removed) Keep stock pipe Change to hotbits muffler Option two will require visit to workshop yearly before inspection. You'll know what I mean. So which option is better and which option is louder. Don't want to attract white ants. Price wise, it's about the same. I'm driving Accent 1.5 manual ↡ Advertisement

Gadgeter 2nd Gear June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 When remove Cat, there will be some slighty smell from exhaust. But most important of all, you might fail the CO2 test when you go for inspection.
E36UDM Neutral Newbie June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 (edited) I would choose option 1 which is cheaper right? Dun remove your meow, you will lose the low end torque Yes smell will be stronger but not necessary fail inspection also Edited June 4, 2003 by E36UDM
Limws1 1st Gear June 4, 2003 Author Share June 4, 2003 Actually, option 1 is more expensive. Maybe its the workshop pricing that is high.
E36UDM Neutral Newbie June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 actually just operate muffler good enough my 2 cents

Hkfung Neutral Newbie June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 Will changing to 4-2-1 extractor generate a lot of noise? depends on the muffler. there will be increase exhaust pressure to the muffler, during certain RPM (3-4K), u may hear knocking metal sounds. Limws1 1st Gear June 4, 2003 Author Share June 4, 2003 Driving manual. I dun know is it because of my ride or what, when changing to extractor, the cat has to be removed. I'm also worried about removing cat. Is there a way to change extractor without removing cat? The stock cat is just after the stock exhaust manifold in the engine compartment. I've PM you about the workshops.
Mel4fun Neutral Newbie June 4, 2003 Share June 4, 2003 Hi LIMWS1, May I ask what is your ride ?? IMHO, taking out the Meow has it's pros and cons :- Pros - Less restrictive and better pull in between gears, good for manual car Cons - May have some smell during early morning startup, not environmentaly friendly and not white ants friendly too It really depends what type of replacement Meow are you putting on, and I know there are cases where it won't required to take in/out for those annual exercise As for the extractor, heard that 4-2-1 is pretty good for torque and drivability. Never install before but can always get more advise from other pals in MCF Cheers ↡ Advertisement
