Brudder Bala,

Be careful what these people say. The workshop may be in cahoot with them and cannot be trusted. Tha's what I think but it's your decision, consider carefully. [sweatdrop]

If I were u I just F care and claim his insurance immediately. These reckless taxi drivers dont deserve any sympathy. Where are all the cabs when u need one. Where are all the taxi when its 11.30pm. Think abt it.

his car got hit in the rear until door got jammed, i don't think 1.5k can settle..

the repair cost will most prob be more than 1.5k, just go to a workshop u trust, and proceed with the third party claim. the total repair cost + lost of use claims will not be cheap. listen to Mustank [;)]

why not go to the official AD workshop and send him the bill?

Your car still under warranty right so the best is still to go back AD to service.

People dont go back is because more ex but since he is paying, then go back lor.

After that, send him the bill, if he pay then settled it else claimed his insurance lor.

well, because AD normally don't handle third party claims, and he would have to fork out cash and claim his own insurance first. then ntuc is surpose to claim the repair cost from the taxi behind.. how efficient is ntuc before his ncb/premium is restored? [sly]

on top of that, his warrenty is almost ending soon.. so is it worth it? nothing was done on the engine either

actually for "own trusted workshop", how many of u guys have a trusted workshop.

i think not many. many of the ppl are driving new cars and most of them have their warranty cover for 3 to 5 years....

i had the same experience except that i was the one who bang the taxi:

http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/General_C1..._2_J_P1893798-6

but i won 95% as he was exiting a small road to the main road and never llok out for main road traffic

how to claim?

1) send car to your own trusted workshop

Workshop's job:

1) get you to fill in various forms including lawyer appointment form

2) workshop to send car for idac/surveyor to do damage assessment based on your accident report

3) the lawyer whom you have "appointed" thru your workshop will fight with taxi's insurance's lawyers (this is the key point to decide who at fault)

4) workshop to repair car in the meantime out of its own pocket

5) while workshop is repairing, you drive coutesy [flowerface] car, courtesy of the guy who bang your backside [sweatdrop] : this is call loss of use

6) you collect car

7) after the lawyers fight finish, loser pays the agreed % to the winner's lawyer.

8)winner's lawyer give money to workshop

but if you want to be Mr. niceguy and don want to tekan the poor uncle, yet you don trust his workshop, do this:

insist you repair in your trusted workshop and he undertake to pay your workshop. if he disagree, ask your workshop to claim his insurance

hi mustank,

thks for the informative info.

I would like to check with you regards to the Loss of use section. My insurance policy from NTUC states tht i would only have a courtesy car if the repair is more than 3 days. However, i will still suffer loss of use for the previous 2 days. Will any workshop help me with this?

Also, when it comes to trusted workshop, how can i find one? The only workshop i know of is the one who is undertaking my car's warranty. Advice?

Thks a lot bro [thumbsup]

"My insurance policy from NTUC states tht i would only have a courtesy car if the repair is more than 3 days."

- this is only applicable if you claim own policy

soory for the late reply [sweatdrop]

i think you would have went without a car for the last few days.....

sci is right, if you are claiming your own insurance, then those ntuc conditions will apply.

if your case, your AD is your trusted workshop. but like some bros here have mentioned, some ADs do not handle 3rd party claims. you got to call your AD to check whether they do handle third party claims.

trick if AD do not handle 3rd party claims: (basically a bluff) : bring taxi guy to AD and ask for a quotation. tell taxi guy to pay direct to the AD if not you ask AD to claim his insurance. if taxi agrees, you lucky.

but if taxi guy don agree, there is a problem. you will have to decide whether you want AD to do the repair or you look for a trusted workshop. if the AD do not handle 3rd party claims, you will have to claim your own insurance and ask your insurarer to claim the taxi's insurance later. if you are claiming your insurance initially, then your loss of use terms will follow your own isurance terms which you have mentioned.

if you want to find your own workshop, one suggestion is to join your vehicle type club. eg. honda got honda club. toyota got toyota club. inside each club usually got one workshop specilise in the type of vehicle. if the general views of the club members of this resident workshop is good, then you may wish to adopt this as your trusted workshop. if you are getting your own outside workshop to repair and claim for you then they will advise you on the loss of use terms, ie how much is reasonable.

if your AD do 3rd party claim, issue solved. nothing else to say, just let AD do everything.

soon hock not so nice, taste abit blant and many bones... usually chirp for fish head. i go for red tiliapa/ snapper.

btw, both insured by aunty lucy sud goto IDAC to file and then goto their authorised workshop. if ur mech is one of their authorised workshop, can also go there. usually the repair work is bidding type, but ur mech can deal with them directly to get the biz.
