Vehicle Registration Card (Log Card)

Hi All,

 

When trading in current car for new car, after getting the COE, when does one hand over the Log Card to AD? Do we need to hand over the original Log Card or photocopy is enough?

 

I just got my COE yesterday, and SE told me around early March should get my new car (1-to-1 exchange). This weekend need to hand over my Log Card....is this the usual practice? Appreciate your advise, thanks.

got my new ride in Jan 08. In my case I only hand over original log card when I got my new car (same same 1 to 1 exchange). Car dealer can go online to get veh particulars like owner etc etc. All you need to do is to give them your ic number and veh number - this is for them to check that you are the real owner.

Dunno why they want your log car so early but with it think they can apply to change owner

But my car is born in 1991, so old car still people will want? I think it will be scrap instead of selling to other people....

in order to perform transfer owner, need 2 things:

 

1. old car is free from any financing (i.e. no liability from bank/credit company - this LTA can check via their system)

 

2. Original IC of current owner and new owner + signatures on the transfer form

I'm worried if I handed over my log card, will AD asked me to hand over my car even before new car is delivered?

Based on this info, why is there a need for the log card in the transaction?!?

I thought now everything online? Last time I check mine is the so called e-log card. LTA got give every owner a user id and password mah. Just log-in and print out lor.

I'm not aware of user id or password.... I got my log card back in 2003 when I full payment for my COE car...

I wonder is there anything I should be aware of should I hand over the original log card? I remember I had signed a form to transfer my current car to a company, is there any danger if I hand over my log card before getting the new car?

Would try to prevent going to that stage, best if I know what's going on before doing something stupid...

ok, they are actually selling ur ride to a dealer who will handle (sell or scrap) ur ride. so it is transferring to them (company). Frankly ask them to provide black white that u will pass car only on the day u get new ride. This is important.

 

But u didnt give ur original ic, right??
