Near accident around Upper Pierce: A mystery

it's kinda bizarre to hear these things take place.

I've been there riding my motorcycle and driven my car. But none of the incidents as you've described occured to me. Not that I do not believe in the supernatural.

None of the people I know who have been there encountered similar events. Some used to race there on both motorcycles and cars before the ban. And despite after the ban, even when they re-visited the place, none of them described it like a hair raising event.

You friend is likely pulling a fast one on you by re-packaging what actually took place. Most likely he went beyond what he could do & his car without a proper ESP package equipped, almost led to a disaster. And why must it always be brakes not working. Can't it be no steering? Clutch unable to disengage? Haha... just take his story easy. On the contrary, there're many blind spots and not to mention the monkeys. Refrain from going too fast on the road. I certainly do not hope that the kind of news like the recent inexperienced Lancer driver splash on the papers. [sweatdrop]

that bend was infamous for taking 3 lives during the racing days (according to my dad).

had heard of strange stories happening there b4. so there is a possibility that the unexplainable happened to ur friend.

Indeed. I took the road before... Daytime, don't feel anytime. Night time, like the road a bit longer. [sweatdrop] I think conservative speed has to be about 40km/h, for the regular rides. Other speeds... are contingent upon the size of the driver's balls. [rolleyes]

in the light of fatal accidents and perhaps sometimes unexplained reasons, my friend related to me an incident last weekend he had while driving at upper pierce (former race track) at around 9pm.

It was a series of bends and he was driving his 1 month old vios with his wife. It was the shortest route for him thats why he used that road. As he was approaching the final bend leading to the exit, his brakes failed. He stepped the brake pedal vigorously but nothing happened. He couldnt use engine brake as its auto. He continued stepping and thankfully, just before he was about to hit a boulder, the ABS kicked in and the car came to a halt.

this incident certainly felt spooky to me. i've driven there a few times but it was daytime. But my friend said he once saw someone walking alone at night and his friend who was driving, missed the sighting. i've since heard quite abit about the place. i'm not superstitious but i guess those who drive there can take extra precaution and drive slowly. i guess my friend luckily drove rather slow that night and the electronics didnt fail. in any case, im just glad he escaped any injury.

Another ignorant driver. Auto still can switch to Low gear leh, at least bring it dead slow with the Low gear. I see alot of people drive Auto going downslope at MSCP with brake light ON all the way. Don't they know how to use engine brake in Auto? Try that stunt in Genting highland, confirm cook ur brakes!
