Volvo is unveiling an innovative plug-in hybrid at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The ReCharge Concept is a specially designed Volvo C30 with individual electric wheel motors and batteries that can be charged via a regular electrical outlet. When fully charged the Volvo ReCharge Concept can be driven approximately 62 miles on battery power alone before the car

1. It is already a reality as seen in BMW Hydrogen 7, AKA H7. BMW already rolled out 100 of such car to date.

 

2. It is a V12 DOHC, 6L, 260bhp/5100rpm, 39.4/4300rpm, 6 speed and weight a whopping 2.5 tons.

 

3. Another one, Honda FCX Clarity that runs completely on batteries with zero waste. They planned to use US South California to test market response based on a rental/leasing basis.

i noe tat..........most car manufacturer is pushing fer hydrogen economy, i.e. fuel cells to charge the batteries. But i'm refering to current technology which hybrids can be further enhanced fer much better fuel savings. [flowerface]

Comparing Hybrid and Bi-Fuel (Petrol/CNG) or Bio-Fuel. Both have some room to go to match the performance of their petrol driven peers. For example, a Civic 1.8L FD NGV that runs completely on CNG, only generate 115bhp versus a normal Civic 1.8L FD with 140bhp. IMHO, the vendor's claim of marginal drop in horses when switching to a CNG is not true.
