Firstcall Clutched February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 i rmb someone up there used to say this some years ago, something like, that we Singapore is small and the advantage is that if we want to do something we can do it fast. I'm sure if we want to do it we can be a lot faster than Isreal. So I guess, now the question is not if we can do it but if we want to. ↡ Advertisement
Beng2 5th Gear February 11, 2008 Share February 11, 2008 because we have oil refineries heretherefore if we become less dependent on oil these MNC will move somewhere that is also why our oil prices are higher than our immediate neighbour Bro, u said we cannot be less dependent on oil in order not to drive away MNCs; but u also mention that is why our oil prices are higher than immediate neighbour. Is there any link between the two statements? imagine when we drive north and pump oil the malaysians are actually subsidizing us sillyporeansin away when we drive up north we are also some form of ganster ... day light robbery hope this observation is false Then u mention My is subsidising Sg by giving us low priced petrol when we go up. I blur liao. However, you should know that MY Govt subsidises the petrol/diesel sold there, while SG Govt imposes taxes on the fuels. It's as simple as that. The MNCs do not need to depend on SG motorists to ensure their survival, else they'd have closed shop long time ago.
Mockngbrd Supersonic October 14, 2011 Share October 14, 2011 Hi, I'm doing a survey on Singaporeans' perception on electric cars....Do spare me 5 mins to give your views... http://survey.ntu.edu.sg/efm/se.ashx?s=705E3ED4302FA929 5 mins very expensive you know
SimonTan 2nd Gear October 14, 2011 Share October 14, 2011 I am seeing less innovation and environmental care. Dolphins..... Even Malaysia is extending two years zero tax on hybrid cars. What we have here was a FAILED CNG scheme. Hybrid cars cost more that exact same normal engine models. ERP half hearted implementation Fail! CNG bus and Hybrid bus still in test trials. We will lose our leads very soon, and become a has beens. Sad sad sad.
Thedream 3rd Gear October 14, 2011 Share October 14, 2011 i'm not convinced that this is such a brilliant idea. Environment - the process to produce batteries is not environmentally friendly Innovation - by 2020, are we sure this is the technology to implement? Would Hydrogen cars make more sense where you top up liquid hydrogen produced from water or even water itself? You will not have the problems of slow charging, short distances, and low power. So what would Israel do with all the electric cars and stockpiles of batteries come 2020 if there is a much better technology?
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear October 15, 2011 Share October 15, 2011 I thought pneumatic/compressed air a simpler alternative and environmentally friendlier?
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear October 15, 2011 Share October 15, 2011 if Israel can do it, sg is highly possible cos our country is way smaller. on avg, we travel less then 100km a day and a full charge is more then enough to cover this distant. the govt can install charging point at each parking lot and deduct from our cash card after each charge just like ERP. Actually we can cycle to most places quite easily with road bikes. No need for expensve cars and the likes. However, the government need someone to pay for the road tax, ERP... SimonTan 2nd Gear October 15, 2011 Share October 15, 2011 Alternatively should allow the motorcycle Coe to be $1. To encourage more people to ride motorcycle. The three wheel Piaggio MP3 is a good stable bike. There was one electric motorcycle start up, did not get much support from authorities. I think now bankrupt Liao.
