Read the above-mentioned from a Taiwanese car magazine, any comments or advice?

1. ATF Oil Change Methods

a)Drain and Replace

Due to the complexitiy of Auto Gear Box mechanism, this method usually provide up to 30%of efficiency since leftover oil and deposits will always found stuck in the parts.

b)Flushing

Usually can reach 100% efficiency but it can also spoil the fine mechanical parts and seals if the pressue of flushing between the inlet and oulet are not kept consistently.

c)Change ATF Filter

The efficency is 40% but could be a faster and more direct approach.

d) Regular oil change

Another approach is to change every 20K, even without flushing or replacing the filter, a regular oil change would ensure oil slurge are diluted and expel out with higher change frequency. The most costly approach.

2. Use the correct ATF

Stock ATF from the manufacturer is still the best and can't go wrong.

3. Work your Auto gearbox

Manually shift down/up your auto gearbox is not a bad ideal. This actually dispel the oil slurge that linger around the moving parts. For those that frequent hilly terrains, it may be good to leave the gear at D3 instead of D. this is to prevent the auto gearbox from shift down/up frequenty automatically. The weakest point of auto greabox is still those moving parts that control gear shifting. Shifting to D3 for high traffic city driving is also recommended to alleviate the need to shift down from gear 4 frequently due to high numbers of stop at traffic lights.

4. Install an ATF Cooler

ATF is particularly suited for tropical climate. Higher operating temperate would degrade the ATF fluid quicker than those cars operating under a cooler climate.
