Dearjoshua Neutral Newbie February 2, 2008 Share February 2, 2008 Kia is now offering CNG option...current model available is magnetis and carens...sportage still pending LTA approval...for CNG-option, it will be $3K discount off the price...hopefully more AD will follow suit... ↡ Advertisement
Best_ctzn Clutched February 3, 2008 Share February 3, 2008 Funny that Carens is on the list since conversion will need to permanently keep the last row, making it a 5-seater. Personally, the best candidate is Sportage since it has the most spacious 2nd row. But those who dislike the high stance might consider the magentis though. The 3k discount is reasonable since doing the conversion will cost Kia 3 to 4k already. But the best part is that warranty will still be intact as confirmed by my SE. I need to fork out 3 to 4k if I want to do it now, but definitely not interested since I got Carens for the 3rd row in the first place. Else very attractive leh since warranty intact. Gz0707 4th Gear February 3, 2008 Share February 3, 2008 the Carens price offer for this weekend's offer is 62.5k, after 8% discount and CNG ARF deduction. seems like an gd offer to consider, esp with CNG conversion. Some of the PIs are also quoting 3k off the normal price for new CNG cars, eg the Stream - 71k.
Sdf4786k Twincharged February 6, 2008 Share February 6, 2008 If u get it with CNG, will u still be able to register it as a weekend to get the 17 K rebate ?. Get a Cerato with this will seem worth while
Perrier 1st Gear February 6, 2008 Share February 6, 2008 Yes. CNG and OPC can. But the discount varies on the OMV of the car. A picanto whose OMV is likely less than 10k will at most offset the installation charges.
Tohto Hypersonic February 7, 2008 Share February 7, 2008 But the CNG Carens will need the 3rd row seat removed. Becoming a 5 seater, at this price with only 5 seat, the cerato seems better. FC is much better for cerato v2, cheaper road tax, cheaper to buy. And you still have a huge boot.
Sdf4786k Twincharged February 7, 2008 Share February 7, 2008 so any clue whats the price of a manual cerato after CNG and weekend register?

Octopus 3rd Gear February 12, 2008 Share February 12, 2008 so any clue whats the price of a manual cerato after CNG and weekend register? 1) C&C till date don't offer Cerato with CNG conversion. This I had checked with them last weekend. 2) Melchers advised that till date they have not done a CNG conversion on Cerato yet, so they decline to comment on this model when I emailed them an enquiry regarding which of the car model I had in mind which is suitable for CNG conversion. By the way, Cerato Variant2 weight almost 1.3ton, so with the CNG cylinder in the boot, I would think it will be quite heavy.

Some of the PIs are also quoting 3k off the normal price for new CNG cars, eg the Stream - 71k. Carens is now 69999 FYI, Carens official price is always 69999 to 71999 these few months, even on the official price list. What is not stated, which is make known only after you enquired, is there is always a 4k to 5k discount on the price. It used to be a first yr $188/month installment (the higher the loan premium the more you save), or 4k to 5k direct discount, or 10% discount on car price (exclude COE), etc, all work out to abt 5k discount. This 5k discount will push Carens price to be abt 10k lower than Stream, which should be attractive enough since almost every thing except FC is on par or better than Stream, IMHO. BUT, alot of ppl don't know, thinking it is only few k lower than Stream, so do not want to consider it which is quite a waste. Now I am enjoying my black car very very much as it is really quite a steal at this price, akin to getting a big bargain! also very unique as not many got it. Frankly I got nauseous (good way to put it) just looking at the Wish and Stream. Edited February 13, 2008 by Best_ctzn
Watwheels Supersonic February 13, 2008 Share February 13, 2008 Actually it's no surprise. For Korea side is already using CNG for their passenger and commercial vehicles more than a decade ago. For commercial vehicle is 100% all using CNG loh. IMO it's better that it's from the manufacturer rather dan being converted here locally.
