Revslide Neutral Newbie January 26, 2008 Share January 26, 2008 I think more often it's the blue car turning to lane 1. Reason? Blue car wants to avoids car pile-up behind red car and still tries to use lane 1 for easy filtering.
Obleveonn 2nd Gear January 26, 2008 Share January 26, 2008 yea, sg drivers mostly have bad lane habits esp the older generation. Ie, uncles and aunties driving. but thats not to exclude ppl who dun give a damm. seen many near accidents with these kind of driving antics. just be extra alert when doing turns in case the vehicle next to u attempts a stunt. Keithhiap 1st Gear January 26, 2008 Share January 26, 2008 just to enlighten u with my experience. your drawing applies to the south bridge road, a road towards ECP, which also applies to most of the road. i was on lane 2, green light, i turn left, taking lane 2, and the car on lane 1, piak to my side. ok, both of us stop at lane 3, to settle the accident. first thing when i get out from my car, i already #$%$#^^^%#@%@#, then he told me, he will compensate the damage, and gave me a few pointers, which i think partially crap and somehow there is a reason. 1. his car is longer, so he needs more space to turn left, hence, slowly filter to lane 2. as for me, i am at lane 2, we have more space then them, so i can use lane 3, and give lane 1 more space to turn left. my reason replying him. 1. theorotically, we should keep at our own lane. 2. i come to think of it, he pointer is valid as his car is longer, need more space, just like buses. the best part is, there is a TP ride passed us, telling us, go somewhere and settle it and dont block the road. this lesson has taught me, whenever i am on lane 2 turning left, i take the very outer lane. Keen 1st Gear January 26, 2008 Author Share January 26, 2008 usually i will go to lane 3 when turning too because most of the time if i dun that, i realised the car on lane 1 will be very close to me...

Taxpayer Neutral Newbie January 26, 2008 Share January 26, 2008 Don't really agree with the mans' pointer that his car is longer and thus he needs more space to turn left. I'm sure there is sufficent space in lane one, just that he has to slowly.
Poper 2nd Gear January 26, 2008 Share January 26, 2008 this lesson has taught me, whenever i am on lane 2 turning left, i take the very outer lane. I rather say that if we notice the car on lane 1 is a "long" vehicle, than let's give it more space by either slowing down or cut into lane 3 safely. If I read you correctly, your prefer lane 2->lane 3 so that it allows lane 1->lane 2. That's not in accordance with traffic rules which is what keep our road safe.. Qpik Supercharged January 26, 2008 Share January 26, 2008 REFER TO THE IMAGE BELOW.... when turning from a traffic light... i notice cars on lane 1 like to cut directly to lane 2 causing the cut on lane 2 to cut into lane 3... happen to me quite a few times... it is a bad habit... not sure it is a habit thing or spatial handicapped. found prevalent in vehicles such as mpv n suv regardless of the gender of the vehicle operator. most of the time, upon turning, i will stick to my lane. but along south bridge road if u r coming fm havelock (just before central that road, i think), upon turning it is a bus lane. those who frequent that road often will naturally turn into lane 2 thereby "eating into other lane". perhaps can someone explain whether we are liable to be caught by TP under such situation (any room for negotiation). that is to say, we turn left into yr lane which happened to be a bus lane & from there we filter to lane 2?? btw, i still want to the kuku who come up with this bus lane rule. never anticipate this prob where pple will be rushing to filter out just to avoid being trapped. Keithhiap 1st Gear January 26, 2008 Share January 26, 2008 yeah, the driver wrote black and white, and pay me fully on other days. at least this guy willing to admit is his fault. yes, i do agree that the driver's pointer somehow dont make sense (longer vehicle tends to take up more space), which i partially agree. u know sgians dont maintain their lane especially U/S-course or turning left/right, and when they make a turn, they are lazy to make fully an 80 degree turns, eventually an 60 degree will merge into lane 2. of course, if u are on lane 2 and lane 1 collided to u, he will definitely have to bare the full cost, as our 'wu nang' already taught us to maintain at own lane. what we are applying is live driving, to be more considerate and avoid accident, turning into lane 3 is good practice for urself, although it seems like i am using a little more petrol. we have to remember, we are turning left/right, for left side, ur family may be in danger, from right side, it still consider pretty safe, as u can still see the blind spot clearly. Keithhiap 1st Gear January 26, 2008 Share January 26, 2008 yeah, i always from lane 2 to lane 3. i rather be safe then side by side with lane 1 vehicle. moreover, when comes to turning, there is no much marking on the road, drivers tends to over turn their steering wheel. Qpik Supercharged January 26, 2008 Share January 26, 2008 (edited) hey bro, there is this road along bukit timah where you turn right, it will get u to stevens rd (raffles town club on the left). fm observations, there are 2 lane (if i dun recalled wrongly), on the right is turn right only & left can go straight or right. upon turning to stevens rd, there are 4 lanes, 2 for right and 2 for straight. some drivers on the right will go either lane 1,2 (right turn) or lane 3 (straight). if u r driver on the 2 lane, u w hv the same choice of going to lane 2 (right turn) , 3 (straight) but at times there are such drivers who turned & supposed to go to lane 1, 2, and 3 ended up in lane 4 instead. was it due to turning radius or laziness to execute a right turn and fm there filter to lane 3 only the drivers know. but, i hv seen & jam-braked on several ocassions btw, i am fully aware of turning radius & i don't think any sedan/suv/MPV require a bigger turning radius to that extent cos i used to drive a pick-up myself. hmm...maybe spatial differences is not gender restricted Edited January 26, 2008 by Qpik
Spas Neutral Newbie January 27, 2008 Share January 27, 2008 You should be used to it by now. Not turning into own lane - or even keeping to their own lane whilst driving - is a common Singaporean ailment. I hope someone somewhere comes up with a vaccine for it soon. It seems incurable though.
Silvermini Neutral Newbie January 27, 2008 Share January 27, 2008 (edited) hey bro, don u learn in theory tat u need to c blind spot? i always c this blind spot when i was on lane 2 incase the lane 1 turn widely so i can siam to lane 3 since lane 3 confirm no ppl use 1. but mostly is lane 1 car took the lane 1 and 2, the lane 2 car took the outermost lane. this is logical ma.. inner lane take the inner lane, outer lane the the outermost lane.. unless minor road is 2 lane and major road is 2 lane too. then they hav to keep to their lane. take note most of the minor road to major road turning left are from 2 lane to 3 lane. but for minor road to major road turning right mostly will be 2 lane to 2 lane. tats the purpose for the left turn not to corner so sharply. u think u goin into carpark ar?
