Simply_lex Neutral Newbie January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 Office politics are everywhere. This is simply inevitable. Even switch job, definitely will bound to face the same situation again, maybe different scenario. Thus, always practise not mixing with the rest, however, trying my best to cooperate within my dept in terms of stock allocation the best I can. (maybe I'm not trying hard enough?...well, everyone eager to perform, so do I.) What's your view regards towards if you can't be the best then mix with the rest. ↡ Advertisement

Rickster 5th Gear January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 As long as there are humans...there will be politics. Coz its in the nature of human to want to outdo one another. Afterall, everybody likes to win. So u have no choice, but to choose who to mix with. Being alone is not really recommended.

Novicej Neutral Newbie January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 There is no relationship between office politics and "can't be the best then mix with the rest" You cannot avoid office politics. You have to manage it. 1 tip: Isolation is suicide. Not mixing with the rest deprive yourself of the common gossips (hopefully nothing to do with you) - which are information necessary to manage office politics. Everybody like to have common things to relate to one another. By not mixing with the rest creates a barrier - risking yourself being labeled as an outcast. Typhoonz 4th Gear January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 Just do your job and don't bother about the comments made about you... No one person can satisfy everyone so why try to do it? Those people do not pay your salary, the company does... Just as long as you are doing your job well and not breaking any rules, don't bother pleasing everyone but yourself... Simply_lex Neutral Newbie January 23, 2008 Author Share January 23, 2008 (edited) I suppose there's a few occasions in the past thus, causes me to be extreme cautious. which lead to isolation without realised. However, that doesn't mean, we are not talking. We are still chatting though. it's basically the cooperation of work, some times is not there. however, i cannot remember "that" few occasions anymore as is already past. Simply_lex Neutral Newbie January 23, 2008 Author Share January 23, 2008 exactly! Actually these are what I'm telling myself everytime, almost daily. do you know, I even go to the extent during down time, I will listen to 问心无愧 sung by Jackie Chan. but eventually, performance is good, but on off, on off, has heated argument with superior (as he act on behalf of another). pretty tired of it. Your superiors have eyes to see so don't worry man... Rather channel your efforts into something more productive as coming up with new ideas on how to improve your work... Jman888 Moderator January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 (edited) like other mentioned, the key word is 'MANAGE', including managing your perception. you could be right but not necessary for the team or in a 'bigger picture'. If you are still young, learn along the way, what you did is 'right' at least for a start Edited January 23, 2008 by Jman888
Chisiang 2nd Gear January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 Just be nice to everyone and anyone. Go the extra mile to help with work. Stay back just to pretend to accompany those doing OTs. Go with the flow, pretend to side with them. Your view on any subject is irrelevant. Just nod and yell "ya ya ya" "correct!" "Exactly" at whatever they say. Laugh loudly whenever possible. Remains neutral in front of your boss

Wreckwrx 1st Gear January 23, 2008 Share January 23, 2008 The key thing is that you must understand the nature of your work and match that to your disposition/ personality. I mean if the nature of the work allows you to "do it all on your own" and require very little help or input from others, then all you need to do is to concentrate on what you are hired to do and the output will speak for itself. However the nature of your job is such that you have to work within a team, then it is important that your disposition is such that you are able to "fit in" and be on good terms with your fellow team members (despite whatever misgivings you may have about them). It may be a little simplistic but a good example will be choosing to be a footballer or being a golfer. No matter how talented you are, a footballer is still dependent on his team mates simply the nature of the sport does not allow you to do it all on your own. But if you are a golfer, then you can simply focus on your swing and putting and not bother about having to try to "fit in". But no matter what, it is still not good to maintain an "isolation policy" coz even a golfer needs to be on good working relationship with his caddy and coaches. I hope you get what I am trying to say.....

Simply_lex Neutral Newbie January 23, 2008 Author Share January 23, 2008 Points noted..... daily work cooperation wise, with other depts are fireworks(positive) in terms of understanding, assistance, discussion, etc etc. All works extremely well without a doubt. unfortunately, only less than a handful in own dept. Nevertheless, well noted all views, will digest and find the "right" vitamins that is suitable in my environment.
Simply_lex Neutral Newbie January 23, 2008 Author Share January 23, 2008 great. has been considering to drop a thread to discuss about this matter for a long time. As it has been in me for sometimes, and keep searching for proper direction to react. So, I thought friends here could share abit of burden with me. Though sales performance is considerably good for my champion, however, I paid a price in return. On a self-comforting thought, i personally feel even without "these" I'm still able to perform, however it will sour the r'ship that involve my superior, which I do not wish to work in such environment. but truly thanks all fellow mates, somehow or rather, have gotta your valuable views. (hmm....how on earth I'm able to secure sales but such a weakling handling internal dept.)
