Where to get "rust converter"?

Used to rely on the Turtlewax "Rust converter" to remove rusty areas on my COE 120Y. The solution is milky white in color, and would react with the rust and turn it black. According to the packing, the treated area will not rust again. Proven to be quite true.

Now that many COE cars are gone, I don't seem to be able to find the "Rust converter" anymore. It used to be available at the premium (ie expensive) DIY shops like Homefix. Visited Selfix at White Sands earlier, and all the counter girl could say was "har?" when I asked her about the product.

Anyone knows where to can I get the "Rust converter"? IIRC it cost S$10-15. Managed to find an old bottle at my mum's storeroom, but it was all dried up. furious.gif

I still have the old Rust Master. It is still working after more than 10 years in storage. laugh.gif

Just used it 2 days ago on a rust patch.

Basically, it's tannic acid and it converts rust to iron tannate, a stable blue/black substance.

I suggest you walk around the hardware shops around AMK Ind Park 2, along AMK Ave 3 near the Caltex Station.

They sell all kinds of stuff, might be able to find one.

Yeah, I've found some rust remover solution at Homefix AMK earlier today. When asked was it the same as "rust converter", the assistant told me it's different. So good thing I didn't get it.

no such thing as a rust convertor. rust is oxidation. u cannot convert oxidation into original condition. already lost it's properties thru pyrolysis.

inhibitor basically reduce the process of pyrolysis to a snail pace so it is less painful for u. after u applied tat, u can consider cold galvanising paint (CROWN) as spray on to use the properties of zinc to seal off rusting.

maybe you can try autobacs.

If not you can go to homefix at yishun (northpoint). they are selling rust converter thing but not the one you posted. had seen it but of different brand.

If your radiator is made of iron, probably yes.

But now most radiator is made of aluminum, that's another problem.wink.gif

Yes, that's why the word "rust convertor" is in quotes. In fact, one of the packaging I've read went something like, after the application the previously rusted area will NEVER rust again. Oh well...

Where can I get the cold galvanising paint? Available as spray can?
