Impatient Speeding Driver

time: tis morning ard 10.25am ++

venue: on sle mandai upper thomson area.

was on the right lane overtaking cars in the centre lane. tis sky blue impreza (SGQ 81xx) came out of nowhere and was so close behind me that i could see the passenger's face as well as driver's. centre lane was congested. seeing how close he was and with my boss in my car, i signalled left and wanted to filter left at the 1st instance.

tis fella can't wait, decided to squeeze thru watever space he could find. but upon going into the centre lane and found that the cars there were even slower than me, filter back in. did this at least 2x. can even see the passenger's head swinging from left to right and the poor passenger was holding onto for her dear life, head facing the driver. i think she's trying to tell him to cool down.

finally i managed to find a space and decided to filter to centre lane immediately. tis fella zoomed past, even though my car was still in the middle of right and centre lane.

i was already going at ~100km/h. i think he was going at ~150km/h, at least.

i took it that he has received an urgent phone call that has to do with life and death and not be pissed of by it. plus, my boss was in my car. dun wan to give a bad impression. if not, y drive like a maniac in broad daylight with so many TPs on the road shoulder today.

and if u, the driver, are reading this, even if it is an emergency, u do not have to drive in such a dangerous manner on the road. u r not only endangering ur life, but also and especially ur passenger's.

Does not matter wat speed you at la... You on extreme right lane and slower then vechicle behind means u road hogging... Next time dun road hog la!

Please dun think you are doing 2.4km run and you are pacer, no such thing as pace car on Singapore roads...

You are endangering others too by road hogging and turning people impatient. So please dun call the kettle black.

that utter BS. your mentality is exactly the same as the guy in the Impreza.

road-hogging is when you are driving at an unreasonable slow speed in the right lane or taking up more than one lane. as the name implies, it means the driver is obstructing the flow of traffic.

as the threadstarter already said, he was traveling at 100km/h, which is technically speeding already. AND the centre lane was slow.

anyway, kudos to the threadstarted for keeping cool and letting him pass. Maybe the driver had some family emergency?

I think you shd read before commenting..

want to speed, also must check if road is clear and if there's reasonable space to make way for someone to get a more expensive speeding ticket, right?

Do you drive? [sly]

go at your own pace and make way when there's opportunity.

frankly for someone to be coming in so close, it's rather difficult to change lane coz when someone change to a slower lane, there's a need to slow down to match speed in the other lane.

Sorry, maybe my definition of road hogging is different. I always thought if you on extreme right lane and you are slower then vechicle behind you then its considered road hogging, you might wana help rewrite the theory books.

I read thats why i commented, if the driver behind can cut to left and back again not just once but 2x what does that say?

Yes I drive.

if only i have my video cam pointing to the back......

he did try to go into the centre lane, but ask urself this question?

if u wan to filter into the centre lane and found that the centre lane is going much slower than the right lane, would you totally:

(1) filter your car into the centre lane, then decided that you are in a slower lane, and finally filter out onto the right lane again?

or would you filter your car halfway between the centre and right lane and finally filter back to the right lane?

I stand by the same thought too....as long as you are slower than the car behind when in outer lane, you are road hogging.

If that car can move into the center lane twice, it means you did not try to give way at all.

Seriously I doubt your claims, because you in your first thread you stated that it was 10.25am so traffic should not be very congested.

Then you claimed you speeding and you tried your best to filter out but the car behind you managed it at least 2X.

Then you claimed that you were travelling 100+km/h and he should be 150+km/h, based on the law of physics and if you can see his face in the rear view mirror then he would have crashed right through you then over-run you.

You might have started your first thread in a heat of anger and not got your facts right, that is why I doubt you.

I look at things objectively and your own statements in your first thread holds no water.

Neutral Newbie

For me, I will filter to centre lane if I see a fast car coming from behind before he will be stuffing his nose on my back. Regardless the centre lane travelling at slow speed, I will move into the centre lane as long as there is space of estimated 2 car length available.

Not judging right or wrong, but everyone have it own driving habit.

Here we go again.... drive safely guys.

accident is accident because it is something we thought won't happened. if not that is suicide or murder.

it is a good habit to keep the fast lane clear. less stressful to travel in the middle lane. However, middle lane or first lane, sometimes , cars just appear out of nowhere. I get these surprises.. where did that car came from on my tail, it wasn't there 10 seconds ago .. kinda thing. :)

just to ask, if the speed limit for the road is 90km/h, you're travelling at 100km/h on the fast lane, i.e. lane 1, and the car behind is coming at you at 150km/h (speeding). of course you're slower, but are you road hogging? or speeding 100km/h?

I stand by the same thought too....as long as you are slower than the car behind when in outer lane, you are road hogging.

If that car can move into the center lane twice, it means you did not try to give way at all.
