We mostly go to SAFRA Toa Payoh -

Haven't been for a while now - not so cheap anymore

only advantage of the one at safra is it's air conditioned and accepts credit card), vs those in coffeeshop (if unlucky, get 2nd hand smoke blown our direction like the one in amk) and cash only.

it's been a long time we last visited.. not sure if the quality is still good..

Twincharged

Astons just opened a new restaurant at changi village.

I am waiting to see how it goes ... coz every single food business that had taken over the same unit had all closed down within 6 months or lesser, except for the first owner.

see if Astons can break the streak or not.

case of expanding too fast .... hired the wrong ppl ... if he had just stuck to one main shop, he should still be ok.

i went to the outlet near Bedok interchange a few years ago ... the rosemary steak was damn tough !!

now got two newer players ... Collins and Char-grill ... both are franchised ... so the "outlet owners" will have a reason to work harder and make it work.

personally, I prefer Collin, great taste and portion for such reasonable price... :)

It is not that simple to be as big as established brand like KFC, McDonald, etc. and yet maintain the same good taste and service.... Aston and other brand need to take the painful and hard look at these brands to really ponder and implement carefully what is the most optimal step to take to keep existing customers and attract new customers.... :)

Hopefully the Botak Jones founder will do thing differently after riding through such bumpy ride in his earlier failed business endeavour. :)

Back to early 2008 days , BJ was good and portion was huge.

Tried last year in Youth Park (Near Cineleisure) food was average and portion wasn't as big as before.

Heard from pengyou that it was becos a lot patron cannot finished the whole food and it became wastage that's why BJ reduce the portion.

Anyway, there is a new branch (i think it is ?) when i drove past Balestier recently.

Went there last week. Portion smaller than when they first started. Tastes good, as they were when the first Botak Jones started. Price about the same. Will return.
