Ya i know. But 120(2L Petrol) is not available from PI. Tis ka is not suitable 4 engine below 2L as it is based on E9x platform. So, d weight is slightly lighted than E9x platform.

its only common sense they bring in the base model to increase sales. if they bring in 320, most likely it'll be 120 and my gut feeling it's gonna sell more than golfs and alfas in the same category

Wait for the gahment announcement... very very soon. I believe they are looking into the Euro IV diesel (with particulate filter) for passenger cars very soon as oil price does not look like coming down in the distant future. So, to reduce economical impact of high fuel cost .... the clean diesel alternative must be considered and tax structure must be revised to accomodate this.

They have done the first step, ie. getting the cartel to supply low sulphur diesel (LSD) to the market (that's why diesel price increased so much) which is essential to run modern common rail diesel engines. The next step is to restructure the tax for diesel cars.

Then, the car distributors will start introducing diesel alternatives here.

However, for market like singapore, if you are not running your car 30-40k mileage per year,... diesel car will cost you more because the new car price is generally 10% more expensive than the petrol alternative. And low mileage diesel engines usually have more problem than petrols. Because diesel engines are traditionally for running long distance, and less start stop. Also, higher demand diesel (and less subsidy from gahment) will increase diesel price to be eventually the same as petrol (just like Europe).

I guess for long term, we have to wait for HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) and DiesOtto engines... which Merc promises with its F700 1.8L direct injestion twin turbo producing 238bhp/400Nm and 6L/100km.

I m x my finger & hope that it will b implemented tis yr.

Based on petrol pumped in 2007, i will saved closed to $800 (calculated on current fuel price) if i switch to diesel.

Based on mileage travelled, i will saved closed to $1k (calculated on current fuel price) if i switch to 123d (based on published urban fuel consumption).

I don't think ppl will switch 2 Diesel that easily because of Diesel Stigma. What kind of diesel engine in our start stop traffic?

I think PML may bring in the 120i and perhaps the 123i (not sure about the 125i) first. Possibly the 4-door variant, but I wish they will also bring in the 2-door version - nicer looking, IMHO. They might bring in the 116i later on, to fill the entry-level gap and compete against the A-Class 170 and Audi's new soon-to-be-launched A1.

But what I would really want is the 125i Coupe. Now this will be a throw back from BMW's classic 2002 sports coupe of the 60's. I like the Coupe best, shape and design-wise, in the 1-er lineup. Its a shorter wheelbase version of the 3-Series Coupe.

i think the 1er coupe is more stylish than the mini. prob the 135 would go like a rocket, better than cooper s jcw?

might compete really well if pml prices it right and bring in a sufficient range of engines. 120 is prob just right for our market. the hatchback is really ugly though, to be honest.
