Squealing Sound while car is on the move

Hi Bros,

 

Today, after driving thru the rain, I parked the car at a shopping centre. After about 2 hrs, when I drove off, I start to notice this squealing sound while the car is moving. It seems to be coming from the front wheels/engine region. The sound stops as soon as the car stops.

 

I got down to check to see if it was due to air leaking out from a punctured tyre but it doesn't seem like the case. Could see anything stuck on the wheel region that could have caused the sound while the car is moving too.

 

Was told that the sound cld be due to a wet transmission belt and it cld go away after it has dried out. Do the bros here ever encountered this before and can shed some light on this? Thanks!

u may want to check on ur belts....i.e timing or fan belt...

Did the squealing sound only occur in the carpark? Because some carparks have cement/concrete floor which results in squealing sounds when the car turns

Nope, not just in the carpark. The squealing sound was there all the way, incl. along AYE...

sound more like a squeal... Don't know if it's due to the transmission. Mine's on CVT...

Maybe the wheel bearing or belting or even pulleys..

Thanks. Are these supposed to be covered under the warranty? I need to know my 'rights' when I send it in to the workshop tmr.

I dont think so.. They part of wear and tear... What ur mileage btw?

10,000km. Just sent it in for preventive maintenance last week...

i got squeaking sound on and off too... was due to belt.. after tighten seems ok now

In that case, go back to AD and make noise..

it may be due to your brakes as well... does it squeal only when u move? even when u dun accelerate? it may be due to the brake pads rubbing on the rotor... sometimes it may be the brake dust that accumilate between the rotor and the brake pads...

Thanks for the advice. It was nearly spot on. :) I have sent it in for inspection at the AD last week (wasn't a terribly nice experience but there's another story). They only found out that there was a stone lodged in the disc brakes after one whole day...
