Fabiaman 1st Gear December 31, 2007 Share December 31, 2007 I am given a 5 or 6 spoke rims for my new car. Personally dislike the 5 or 6 spoke rims, much prefer those multi spoke ones. I told my SE... and she reacted a little bit surprised. She said the 5 or 6 spoke rims are more popular amongst her clients. In fact she has a customer who was given the multi spoke rims and is unhappy... now searching for a 5/6 spoke one to replace. What is ur preference? ↡ Advertisement

Kelpie 2nd Gear December 31, 2007 Share December 31, 2007 I am given a 5 or 6 spoke rims for my new car. 1. To me it is not a matter of spokes but the thickness and depth of each spoke. 2. Multi spokes are usually harder to clean. Some tyres shop classified them as "classic" rims, I don't know why. IMHO, they only look their best on certain type of cars. 3. I may be wrong but slim/thin spokes give me a sense of insecurity. Just thinking aloud, imagine due to some unforseen reasons, the wheel crashes against a side wall, which one would have a higher chance of endurance, multiple slim/thin spokes versus 5/6 thicker spokes. Furrynadz 5th Gear December 31, 2007 Share December 31, 2007 u be surprised at the strength of the so called lightweight ultralight rims like oz ultralegs, they can take a real bloody hard beating and end up non worse off than minor scratches

Carmaniac Neutral Newbie January 1, 2008 Share January 1, 2008 bro what car are you getting? And personally I think that any kind of rim can look nice, but there are several factors governing this lah.. 1. compatibility. Like how one of our bros said just now.. Rims look different on different types of cars. 2. Deep dish or not? Imo deep dish rims look nice on contis and supercars, and those flat ones like OZ Superturismo don't look as nice on supercars with wide tyre widths. 3. Colour. From chrome to gunmetal, there is definitely a big difference in terms of looks. If you put chrome wheels on a Jap car it will only make it look even more plasticky and 'cheap', while chrome wheels look nicer on luxury sedans. 4. Overall Design. There are many areas of the rim that can make it look unique and different from others. Two rims with 5 spokes can be very different if one has a mixed colour scheme, different arrangement of the wheel nuts, etc. But after all it is still up to your personal preference lah, you own and drive the car yourself, you should enjoy how it looks yourself and don't be swayed by other's opinions. Just my opinions
Zoomprotege Clutched January 1, 2008 Share January 1, 2008 Hey, what car r u getting? Guess some cars will look better in multi-spoke. I personally prefer multi-spokes. Get the multispke and make sure your SE doesn't swap her other client's multispoke with yours.
Fabiaman 1st Gear January 1, 2008 Author Share January 1, 2008 I am getting a new S80 and they are giving the 5 or 6 spokes rim which I thought is inferior looking. SE told me the multispoke S80 rims is for MY07, mine is a MY08 batch , hence the 5 spoke rims. Still deciding whether to tarde in my 5 spoke for a multispoke one... not sure if its worth the money spent.
Azrielsc 1st Gear January 1, 2008 Share January 1, 2008 5-6 spokes for me! I'm biased since I'm on rims that have 7 twin spokes each. ↡ Advertisement
