Well i did the repair a few time.

1. Is the scratch mark deep or burn.

2. For deep scratch see below.

Best get a scratch removal like the Scratch X to try and removal 1st.

Deep scratch removal.

1. Scrap of any rust.

2. Apply touch up paint ( colour code is below rear view mirror )

3. Wait 1 hour for paint to dry.

4. Use a plastic ruler or anything to remove the excess paint.

5. Repeat if needed.

6. Get a grade 800 sandpaper wrap around a block and lightly sand the surface even.

7. Get a grade 1500 to 2000 to smoothen out the mark.

8. Get a buffing pad and polish to remove the hairline scratch.

With any cleaner+polish+sealent can get the 101 from maddriver. Comes with a free pad.

9. Apply and sealent to protect the surface.

Last time i did a 10cm scratch took me 3 hrs but it was worth it.

Or you can go to any auto repair shop they are charging around $60 for 10cm in a panel. Anything longer they charge $100.

Have u tried going at it with liquid wax/polish yet? I have removed a few superficial 'scratches' that way because sometimes, they are not really scratches but marks on the paint surface. [:)]

I have a pen like scratch (just like if you press the ballpoint as hard you can and draw a line across it). The depth can be felt if one rub your nails across it. I am quite hesitate to using 3M rubber compound know that are some abrasive material in it. Just like sanding the scratch and the area around it.

I will get a sealant to covered it after that I have smoothen it, question is what product to use?

Saw some Jap scratch remover, but it contain a bit of paint eg. Black remover for black car,not sure if I try this product will the black car be covered with this black colour (Diff tone of black)? Any recommendation and suggestion. Thanks.

Hi, jus found a 3cm by 0.5cm scratch on my latio bonnet. I seriously cannot fathom how it got there as I parked my car in a carpark. Anyway, my concern is that the red paint is gone and I can see the underlying grey area. If I leave it alone, will it rust? Anyone can tell me if I can just get a car sticker and paste over it to prevent further damage? Or how much is the estimated cost to get it painted? Thanks in advance.

Better to get a touch up paint and go over it. If you can't tahan seeing that line everyday, then go get it resprayed lor. Cos protection gone and rust may set it. praying bonnet should cost $150 onwards.

Gently wash and clay off the dirt around the mark, then use abrasive polish to gently rub and minimise the damage. Don't think you can polish off clean since the scratch has expose the primer but can slightly minimise it. Can also use touch up paint to cover the remaining area. If got more cash to spare and insist for flawless standard then need to go ws respray.
