lol...i think the country has got nothing much to do with the manufacturing plant..

 

ther are so many brands of car-makers that are not doing full production of their own vehicles.

 

example, Porsche Boxster, they are manufactured in Finland by a company who does armoured vehicles.....

 

Volkswagen Toureg is made in Slovakia

 

Renault Kangoo, Trafic, Citroen Berlingo, Opel Combi... they are manufactured in Turkey

 

even Hummer are now made in South Africa....

 

Merc & BMW have been producing vehicles in South Africa for a very long time.... recent entry would be the Hummer.... even ur Golf GTi some are from South Africa

those cars made in certain location in parts of the world have certain reason... not jus to cut cost..

 

most are specific models for certain area of the world...some call localised specs

 

dun be surprised that ur Thai made car are not able to be imported into Japan or Europe.

 

they may look identical, but if u go into details, they are not the same and may not meet the Japan/Europe requirements to be registered there.
