Hi Horsee,

D1 Spec is Made in Taiwan. Pivot is from Japan.

However these 2 products you mentioned are not providing the same function.

D1 Spec Gen2 (or VSDII) is a spark optimiser which is equivalent to the Pivot Spark (red)

Pivot Blue is a voltage stabiliser which is equivalent to D1 Spec Voltage Stab (red colour)

I have installed both Pivot Red and Blue.

Blue is installed near the batt.

Red is inside the car, linked to your iginition.

No big noticeable diff.....engine sound and throttle response smoother....no HP gain.

Supposed to allow batt to last longer....will only know next year since I just changed my batt a few months back. [:p]

No harm trying for your car.

Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks for yr feedback.

Pls continue to post yr valuable advise.

i was quoted 108 for pivot blue, and D1 spec gen2 is 180.

As mention pivot make in Japan and cost cheaper.

Might consider install pivot (blue) with 5 pts grounding to try then.

Hi,

Happy to share and learn from each other here. [:)]

I spent total $230 for Pivot blue and red @ McWell.

For my grounding, I did it at FabX which is probably the one quoting you on the D1 Spec stuff. I think I was kena chop carrot for the grounding because I did it together with a RPM/Shift lamp timer and total was $360 [sweatdrop]

Btw, the quote of $180 for D1 Spec gen2 should be the volt stab and not the VSDII because I know VSDII is $288 C&C.

I think it is wise for you to do the Pivot blue with grounding first then see the effect if any. Later can add in the Pivot red or even VSDII.

So far VSDII has good review in Subaru forum but for me, I prefer Jap stuff so I went for Pivot. That time when I did the grounding and RPM timer I still didn't know D1 Spec is from Taiwan.

D1 Spec is actually a brand making coilovers and suspension in Jap. So this Taiwan D1 Spec is just using the name and has no relation with the "real" D1 Spec. Still wondering why no lawsuit or legal hoo-haa over this though.

Happy modding!

Hi Elmo,

D1 spec gen2 at 180 is quoted by E-rXXs, whereas F@bX quote me 199.

VSDII is 288 C&C by E-rXXs, and 280 with install by F@bX.

Yes, i have search the forum, and heard good comments on VSDII.

However, i find the price to ex.

Hi Horsee

Yeah it is quite ex for a Taiwanese product.

But $280 with install for VSDII very cheap leh....was quoted $390 w/install once by FabX but price had since come down. MiracleX at TurfCity also carrying D1Spec.

However Pivot also got fake one that's why I went back to McWell for them. Seems like they are the authorised dealer and they actually ran a advert some time back in HotStuff to teach readers how to differentiate. So if outside quote a price too low for Pivot must be wary.

Oh yeah....if you ever install VSDII, do get them to install inside the car. Seems like got pple install inside engine bay b4 and it melted.

Wonder which accessories shiop are authorised dealers for D1 Spec products?

Pivot price quoted is from wish w@rks.

Well, they confidently its original make in Japan,

& tell me it will improve performance and reduce FC??

That why i rather hear from end-users.

Hi Horsee,

FabX claims that they are the sole distributor for D1Spec. (can refer to their website) And I remember seeing somewhere in a forum that it is Japan-tech but made in Taiwan (i.e. copy) There was one particular forum that even claim that VSDII is a direct replica of TM Works's products.

Frm car mags....I see that CarBeauty ctr also carry D1Spec.

Pivot is also carried by Chuan Li Hin in Bt Batok Midview Bldg.

Pivot is definitely from Japan....but as with many Jap products nowadays, many components come from China or are assembled there.

Anyway, I do believe the products either from Pivot or D1Spec can work but only marginal improvement and diff car even from same make, will experience diff results. There was once a forum poll on Pivot vs D1Spec and the result was a tie.

Normally, our right-foot will cancel out any improvements in FC. [;)]

Agreed that the right foot is important, but the mind always think the opp way [laugh]

I was once on EZ-STAB old & new version, but has since sold them away.

Now engine stock felt weird.

Start to feel engine more dragging and vibration..

Have read thru the D1 Spec history, the VSD2 review looks promising.

Still felt its too ex for me, but worry i will waste $$ on pivot after install..sigh
