Boyboy 1st Gear December 17, 2007 Share December 17, 2007 what ride? piggyback cost more but u get to keep the chip. i guess quickflash of stock ECU is the best value for money but only applies to light mods. for heavy mod better to piggyback. i did FDL btw on my getz. good stuff but i now feel that maybe i shd have got a piggyback instead, something i can reuse on future ride.. Simplyme Neutral Newbie December 17, 2007 Author Share December 17, 2007 ur FDL at harmony?? think i read somewhere that piggyback cannot really take care on the low end side... anyone can confirm?? btw how much u pay?? u really think its worth
Boyboy 1st Gear December 19, 2007 Share December 19, 2007 abt $800.. worth or not is up to u. i dun see why piggyback can't take care of low end, but i never tried before. next ride maybe, unless it's a mitsubishi or subaru, then it seems that their stock ECU can be tuned also.. low end improved quite alot , but i was looking for more high end. i guess there's a limit to how much a miserable 1.1 can output
Luvknowmore Neutral Newbie December 20, 2007 Share December 20, 2007 Hi BoyBoy, I have done the QF at Harmony, but it does not seem to improve. It was done more than 6 months ago. The FC before and after remained the same..about 6 - 7. The car still like no power...eg, when I want to acceralate from 100km/h to 130 km/h...i feel the car is not responsing... I am driving Kia Carens II. Do you think investing piggyback will help to improve the performance of my car. Please give me advice..Thanks.

Boyboy 1st Gear December 20, 2007 Share December 20, 2007 was there any improvement when u first did QF? i think u need to mod some hardware first, such as intake, headers and exhaust, then do ur piggyback tuning
Luvknowmore Neutral Newbie December 20, 2007 Share December 20, 2007 Hi BoyBoy, Initially, i felt some improvment. I have checked with whitesnail that there is no space for Carens to do CAI. What is headers mod? and what need to be done on exhaust? Any recommendation? Where is the best place to do piggyback? Is it Viswork in Malaysia that I came across here? What is the cost now? Thanks. Simplyme Neutral Newbie December 20, 2007 Author Share December 20, 2007 header mods is to change the extractor... 4-1 high end and 4-2-1 low mid end.... can consider to remove ur cat as well... exhaust can chose to operate or buy approved ones... take note.. most of these are LTA unfriendly except the approved exhaust like remus or sebrings... Bimmer12 Neutral Newbie December 28, 2007 Share December 28, 2007 If we buy for $800, can keep the chip. But if change car, must pay to tune again?

I am driving Kia Carens II. Do you think investing piggyback will help to improve the performance of my car. Please give me advice..Thanks. Kia Carens II uses the same engine as Hyundai's 2L CVVT. So you should go for Full Data logging to get a better performance (FC only improves a bit) on the pickup and also gear shifting at higher RPM, in acceralaration pickup is also faster then when it was stock. Unless you are hard core and are going towards the 'dark side', else for N.A. Full Data logging will be good enough as piggy back will not be able to tune for closed-loop mode (only for open loop mode). If got chance to meetup, you can take a ride on my 1.9+tonner (trajet) and see for yourself

Vtim 3rd Gear January 5, 2008 Share January 5, 2008 AFAIK, there isn't any datalogging and tuning software for Toyota stock ECU
Rampage79 Neutral Newbie January 5, 2008 Share January 5, 2008 some piggyback are able to fully control close loop though not all, but most are able to affect close loop till a certain extend.
Vtim 3rd Gear January 6, 2008 Share January 6, 2008 yap, some can affect the close loop to a certain extend but not entirely, if can get the ECU tuning and refresh for stock ECU, then it'll be the best I've found one for my 2+ tonner but too bad it's in Korean language and it cost only S$400++ very tempted to buy it

Rampage79 Neutral Newbie January 6, 2008 Share January 6, 2008 still driving the same old car. some ecu can FULLY control the close loop. some can even convert the close loop to open loop. while some can only affect to a certain extend and not fully control the close loop. there are many piggyback in the market. u will need to know which best suits ur needs. ↡ Advertisement
