According to the press, each person has to make has to make 2 calls (2 different idols) so as to be fair to countries with less population.

Voting procedures

There are several differences in voting and tabulation between Asian Idol and other Idol shows. Unlike the latter where the viewers get to vote for one contestant, the voting procedure for Asian Idol requires viewers to send SMS votes for two favorite Idols, thus allowing contestants to receive votes aside from their respective countries.

As consideration on population size among the participating countries, tabulation of votes are done through an "Equal and Even Cumulative Method", where the total votes of each country are converted into percentages. The winner was determined through 50% viewers' votes and 50% judges' scores, in which Hady Mirza from Singapore Idol won the crown.

Am not an expert in Statistic.

Can anyone explain what is meant by "Equal and Even Cumulative Method"?

Is that a fair method for this competition, in view that each participant should be getting almost 100% support from their respective countrymen?

Neutral Newbie

Probably Hady edged over the rest through the 2nd votes of those from Indonesia, Malaysia.

Anyway the song written by Taufik that he sang as the final song was befitting.
