Kelpie 2nd Gear December 14, 2007 Share December 14, 2007 1. What is a low profile tyre? anything that is lesser than 50? 2. Can 50 achieve high speed spec of 270km/h? would cornering be compromised with a set of 50 tyres? Thanks all. Regards, ↡ Advertisement
Shawyz Neutral Newbie December 14, 2007 Share December 14, 2007 i am not too sure wad can be classified as low profile tyres, but the speed rating for every types of tyres are different wor.. usually lower profile tyres (and hence stiffer side wall) will have better edge in cornering (more responsive). But stiffer side wall will generate more noise and lesser confort for your ride. Cheers
Adawang 1st Gear December 14, 2007 Share December 14, 2007 (edited) ya, 50 series 270 kmh 45 series 300 kmh, wow kekekeke the lower profile u go , the more stable in corner Edited December 14, 2007 by Adawang
Kelpie 2nd Gear December 14, 2007 Author Share December 14, 2007 ya, 50 series 270 kmh 45 series 300 kmh, wow kekekeke the lower profile u go , the more stable in corner In that case, how would the width plays a part in improving cornering? Would a higher profile of 50 but with a wider width such as 235 improves cornering? Regards,
Adawang 1st Gear December 14, 2007 Share December 14, 2007 i think profile plays impt role in cornering rather than width lower profile = lower side wall height which makes the side wall stiffer as there is less flex in the side wall so u get better cornering but at the expense of comfort
Kelpie 2nd Gear December 14, 2007 Author Share December 14, 2007 1. So wider width equates better comfort? 2. In cornering, does a 45 makes a great difference when compared with 50 in R17? Thanks. Regards,
Honda2 Neutral Newbie December 21, 2007 Share December 21, 2007 45 think is far the lowest for a 16", less than that if rims hit palform should scratch one. ↡ Advertisement
