my previous company had 1 ex-PAP MP who only serve 1 term and discarded by PAP themselves. although being discarded by PAP after just 1 term means PAP do not think highly of him as well, but it hurts to know such an average guy can be a MP of singapore for 5 years and wasting away tax payers monies to pay people like him. That's why i think the PAP system of them hand picking their own candidates and designing the electorate to walkover for such incapable candidates to waste our time and resources sweeps a lot of dirt under the carpet.

That is precisely what I am harping about.......

They talk so much about listening on the ground and knowing what the common folks want and need..... but we have a person who is in the highest office int eh land that did not even know that mee siam do not have hum ... and a high mighty someone's (who think he can command a 2 million dollars salary with a PRIVATE company) wife that think a 1 million dollars salary is peanuts.... there they are going for this function and that functions dressed to their nines.... having special forces protecting them,.... creating a traffic jam whenever they got driven out on the streets..... playing golf in the Istana or Island Country Club.....

What do they know about the common folks......

THEY LOST TOUCH....

I think their pay also go up. That's why they never write ST forums to hoot PAP. KNN, this is open bribery in progress. Pay their enemies to shut them up. Pay And Pay really live up to their name. [thumbsup]

Neutral Newbie

I think one of the new MPs Heng Chee How lost outright elections twice then got a free ride into Parliament via a non-contested GRC. There should be some form of ruling that do not allow such candidates to be put in a GRC during an election. Its like going in through the backdoor despite not being the people's choice...then again, same goes for our prataman. And the mee siam man also got a smooth ride in politics courtesy of his laopeh.

[shakehead]

Just a question of when the Abalone porridge man from Hougang also gets in via the backdoor... [:|]

you see, therein lies the strategy of our ruling party in the elections, that is to feed on ignorance and fear.

They bunch minister calibre PAP candidates with 4-5 less heavyweight/newcomer/unknown PAP candidates. Then they feed on the electorate's fear by saying if they don't vote the minister level PAP candidate they risk losing such high calibre candidates. but what has subtlely or cleverly omitted from being revealed to the voters is that even if these heavyweight ministers get voted out during election, they have a way back (ruling party permits) to being a minister without contravening any constitution of singapore.

Is this a right way to election? Candidates should be voted on their individual merits instead of being promoted like a package deal like a commercial transaction. Secondly, politics of fear or selective omission of facts should never have been a key cornerstone of any election campaign strategy.
