i haven't done any real calculations. but can we save money getting from 2nd link? i'm discounting the 1st link as the jam damn heavy. but 2nd link seems to have a gas station near it.

my take is 2nd link has some distance for traveling but at least its a smooth drive. wonder if toll and cashcard will make it less worth it to get petrol

I'm considering this option too .... [grouphug][grouphug][grouphug]

But do be wary at that petrol station cos have been there the other time and seen some of their local guys behaving rather suspiciously [;)]

need to factor in toll both sides .

SG - 3.60 x 2 = 7.20

MY - 8.8 x 2 = 17.60

+ 1.8 x 2 = 3.60

after average conversion back to SG dollars around $9

hence 9+7.20 = 16.20 .

worth or not you decide . [;)]

IMO, i think it is still not worth it because of the 3/4 tank rule. Unless u go in empty tank la if u wanna risk.

Lots of ppl they calculate only $$ term, but they didnt thought of the effort and time to purposely go there (less those who live nearby).

U purposely make a trip across the causeway, in the long run yr mileage also higher, car need to send for servicing faster, tire bold out faster etc etc...

Why not pay a bit more for petrol in sg... stay at hm shiork shiork.. eat and watch tv....

Of coz la, if the petrol price continue to shoot up.... shakehead.gif then maybe pumping across the causeway could be more worthwhile....

still boh-wah at the moment as one of the bro above has pointed out , toll plus 3/4 tank rules. [dead]

Unless you bring your bella up north to clear some carbon and then back .

onli those SUV and MPV with huge tank worth to go there n pump LEGALLY....

if u take into the consideration of the tol charges from both country, the petrol to travel (*worst still, trap in jam), the time (opportunity cost, just factor $8/hr bah, consider urself as a cheap labour [sweatdrop] ) it will be more ex...

not taking into consideration on the risk of being robed, raped, killed......

Also, there are risks of getting robbed, shot, car jack there... blah blah. tendecy to spend on other things are higher too..food and other cheap stuff u see.

Time is money.Thats why I dont do it.

for the dist, toll and travelling time, compared to small traffic at causeway, I think the causeway is better.. but it depends on where you start as well

if go through Woodlands checkpoint,

SG Checkpoint $1.20

MY Checkpoint RM $2.60 = SGD $1.20 (Base on Exchange rate SGD $1 = RM $2.20)

example pump petrol RM 60 (31 litre @ RM 1.91/litre) = SGD $27.20

total spent $ 29.60

Pump in SG, 31 litre @ $1.90 = $58.90

$58.90 - $29.60 = $29.30 (Total Savings)

if you smoke, buy cig in MY, can save even more.

but think of the jams & waiting time. whether is it worth the savings, you weigh it yourself.

cheers [:)]

so it seems there's only one factor getting in the way, the 3/4 tank rule. if not, def can save. i've gone into JB a few times lately and strangely, nobody checks the fuel gauge. anyway, i think its a rule that does not make sense.
