Ordix 2nd Gear November 27, 2007 Share November 27, 2007 I received this 'present' on my 1 mth ride from some ba*tard last week... I posted somewhere but wanted some more feedbacks. [inline cb_present.jpg] I already managed to remove half of the scratch with polish (note: pic is before polish), now left only bout 8cm (initially bout 15cm) but the 8cm is the quite deep area... 1) Anyone here ever use touchup paint (or pen) on this kind of deep scratches (i tink by penknife or screwdriver) and managed to make it flawless? 2) Must this be respray? Some said touchup paint will do some said confirm need to respray whole door. 3) I also read bout getting touchup paint from my AD and using toothpick to fill the gap... Any advice? 4) Read bout respray which should cost 70-100 for this? But abit relunctant cos mine only a 1mth ride. Hopefully can see photos of after 'touchups' :) Thanks everyone! ↡ Advertisement
Cheerios Neutral Newbie November 27, 2007 Share November 27, 2007 touch up won't do.. its like deep wounds on our skin.. the skin would eventually recover, but there would be this long scar remaining... seriously, touch up would make the whole thing look worse.... best solution, respray if not just leave it.. coz if u respray, next morning.. the vandal scratch even longer, and deeper? Oon8116 Neutral Newbie November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 For this kind of scratched condition, only respray can solve the problem.
Rskeisuke Clutched November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 i know exactly how you feel bro... my 4 months old car also kena last week, but worse.. 3/4 length of whole left side deep long scratch.. respray is your only option, but unless you can put a layer as good as your factory paint over, else, the panel will look different from the rest of the car. unless you spray whole side.. Superblackbox Neutral Newbie November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 hey there. i would advise nt to do anything. yes the first scratch is the most painful one. I kenna one more time. ..... but one thing. my carcark "mr vandal" is a chicken, he only attack jap cars. Bmer, Mercs and Lexus.. he got no balls to do it.. Pui..... I told my NPP. they say its a act of mischief, so i ask them. if patrol car kenna scratch. THen it will be considered Vandalism rite? They say will step up patroling.. Sigh .. If u read in teh papers.. 1 vandal was cause and let off with a Warning o0nly.. Wow liao...
Scoots 3rd Gear November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 Yo Bro, I have a similar situation. Have been taking car of my car for the past year plus (careful choice of parking neighbours, spacing in lot ...) managed to survive for that period with only one small dimple..... Then one fine day got a 'signature' on my passenger side that could not have been accidental..... Polish polish... managed to recover a portion but still have the a significant scratch ... *sigh* I kinda gave up looking to a solution except respray liow .... And that will only be further down the road when $$$ allows the luxury or the car condition ...err... worsens
Mustank Hypersonic November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 if mata car kena scractched, i don think the mata will even notice.... ah gong's car not theirs what
Scoots 3rd Gear November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 For the vandal that was caught (in the act, I suppose) ... The police won't press charges ah?... if that's the case, how can the car owners pursue the matter? Have to take up the case privately? (as in through lawyer?) Latio79 Clutched November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 Yo bro, if you really want to respray, wait till u move to your new place la. New carpark, new look ma. if not may kana vandalise again since the pax giving you this "signature" may be one of your "friendly" neighbours.. Chickenfarm Turbocharged November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 For damage to properties that is privately owned, it is classified as mischief as opposed to vandalism involving gahmen properties. There are provisions in the Penal Code making mischief an offence under the law. If the culprit is caught and evidence is overwhelming, police should take action based on advice from AGC The difference is mischief carries no flogging penalty whilst vandalism does
Scoots 3rd Gear November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 (edited) Hmm... Then I wonder what the situation was that led to the vandal being let off with only a warning .... I would think that if they caught a vandal, it would have to be in the act or witnessed by someone... To me, that should be 'overwhelming' enough ... and if that's the case, how can the police just let the vandal go? Where is their responsibility to the car owner? How can the police decide (judge) on the degree of prosecution of the matter ... *sigh* Edited November 28, 2007 by Scoots
Chickenfarm Turbocharged November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 Bro...they will send their IP (investigation papers) on a vandalism or mischief case to the Attorney-Generals Chambers (AGC). It is AGC that evaluates the case based on evidence and advises the police whether to take further actions or not. I won't know what was running thru their legal minds when evaluating the case but it involves lots of factors and in the case where a warning is given, I can only guess that there were mitigating factors involved that affected their decision against a prosecution in court Am just laying the facts before you Am not trying to justify or defend police or AGC's actions nor saying they are correct so don't fire me
Scoots 3rd Gear November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 (edited) Yo Bro ... no worries. I was just throwing out those question in general, but not directing to you ... cheers bro! Nutty 4th Gear November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 I would advise you to leave it as it is. You'll never know if you unknowingly offended anyone in your area. Don't bother to try touching up. Most of the time, it will highlight the scratch rather than hide it.

Will_I_Am 2nd Gear November 28, 2007 Share November 28, 2007 U might want to consider stickers to cover the scratch. Can hide the scratch and u have a more sporty looking ride also ... kills 2 birds with one stone
