Intelligent lift in Samsung Hub

Sharing some light on an 'excellent' lift system in my building.....

How it works:

1. Select destination floor from the panel outside the lift.

2. A lift will then be assigned to you.

3. LED dislay inside lift indicating which floors the lift is serving.

Have seen many instances whereby visitors simply walk in and have a weird/funny look when they cant find the buttons in the lift.

Personal experience is when lift does not go to your selected floor and automatically sends you back to the 1st floor.

Only other place I've seen this lift system is AIA Tampines..not sure about other places though.

Another first,

Building management has informed all tenants that each individual person taking the lift should press the floor buttons in order to get a spot in the lift.... intelligent huh... go figure.

Basically if a group of us (6pax) are headed to the 1st floor, we need to key in 1st floor 6 times in order for the lift to reserve a space for each and everyone of us....

I guess this one was an ever tougher task than that... it made something that was easy -> difficult.

A scholar from from some stat board must have just joined Samsung Hub building management recently.... [sly]

Hahahaha, Samsung used to be my customer and I have used the lift countless times. Does not seem to be much of a problem for me, but I did not know that each person has to press the botton once.

I have exprienced this kinda lift at another place, DSO labs and other gov buildings. For those your pass has to be scanned and the lift will only take you to the floor you have requested for. [laugh]

I was waiting for 1 of suntec's lift once. Left side don't go B1, whereas right side does. But no matter how many times I waited, it is always the left side one that came. Stupid system if you asked me.

sharing my bad "Lift" experience..

was at Genting 1st world hotel.. was staying on 22nd or 23rd storey(can't recall).. think there are 6-8 lifts serving the building tower.. so on day of check out, around 11plus am.. waited about 5mins for lift to arrive.. when the lift finally arrived.. was quite packed inside, so it stopped again at the 21st storey.. by then the lift was fully filled.. but due to high demand, i assume its peak hour coz most are checking out of hotel, the lift stop at every storey though its full.. no way it could carry anymore passenger.. was quite fustrating... took another 5mins to reach hotel lobby..

yours open every floor. mine don't open at all. [laugh]

i was at this factory building. level 5 onwards are manufacturing floors while levels 4 and below are office floors.

i was waiting for the lift at level 4 at 6.30pm which happens to be the time the factory workers change shift. all the lifts go from level 1 to level 5 and back down to level 1 without stopping on level 4. later i found out the lifts are so-called smart lifts which will detect the weight of it's load, if too heavy then it will not pick up more passengers.

the worst thing is, we can't use the stairs cos the staircase door is connected to the fire alarm such that when it's opened the alarm will sound. [furious]
