Davidklt Supercharged November 26, 2007 Share November 26, 2007 (edited) They keep pushing "made in Japan" type saying its a lot more quiet and worth the additional dollars. Is it true or just psychological effect? Edited November 26, 2007 by Davidtkl ↡ Advertisement
Spinworkx Clutched November 26, 2007 Share November 26, 2007 That depends on the make/model... An example is the Goodyear F1 tires. The German ones are the best and most expensive. Then they started making Thai made ones...pretty good and very value for money...almost as good as the German ones. Unfortunately the factory in Thailand burnt down so they shifted to China... This China made F1s have had many bad reviews, the materials used were also inferior and alot of problems arose from that...many shops in SG stopped selling them because of complaints. So they now bring in the Japan made F1s which are also good...slightly pricey... So ya, depending on the make/model, the country or origin does matter...but it doesn't mean any Japan tyre is better than lets say a Korean one...it depends on the model. W210k 1st Gear November 27, 2007 Share November 27, 2007 (edited) You bet there is a difference in wet/dry performance, overall grip and tyre wear rate ... in the longer-term, not just the first few days/weeks. As for me, all my current and previous cars (VW, Merc, Lexus, BMW) are shod with Dunlop SP Sports 900x series. IMHO - the best all round wet/dry performance and low noise. I will insist for either Made in Germany (OEM for Merc and BMW X3), or Made in Japan (OEM for IS200). Sometimes gotta pre-order / wait, for stocks to be available. I have tried Made in Thailand Michelins . Personally, I will avoid any China-made product, if I can help it. Ghostrider 3rd Gear November 27, 2007 Share November 27, 2007 Asian tires sometime CMI.... I bought a made in Philippines Yokohama....damn sidewall got a "balukoo" without me hitting anything...and that was like 30% of the tire used only... So now I try to avoid these tires...rather pay a bit more for quality.
Byond 1st Gear November 27, 2007 Share November 27, 2007 Does the word "'Asian'' includes Japan tyres?

Ncss Clutched December 4, 2007 Share December 4, 2007 Made in Japan Eagle are "Revspec" and "LS2000". Revspec more for performance, LS2000 more for comfort.
Ferrari7 Neutral Newbie December 7, 2007 Share December 7, 2007 Quote So they now bring in the Japan made F1s which are also good...slightly pricey... F1 should be a very reassuring tyre if its made in 1st world countries. Where do they sell Jap F1s? I will be very interested in getting them. ↡ Advertisement
